Leigh Witherell is an award-winning emerging contemporary Figurative artist living in the United States. Her work captures scenes of human emotion, often reflecting profound and intimate moments.
Characterized by organic, earth-tone color palettes and dynamic brushwork, her paintings often evoke deep emotional and provocative responses born from significant life traumas, such as the death of her daughter in April 2021. Her work looks to show how emotions play a prolific role in how we see the world, and when we hide those emotions, we see the world as gray. Her choice of bold colors and romantic compositions leads the viewer into a fantasy that, for the artist, is a solace.
Significant projects include a series of works that portray the silent, powerful moments of interpersonal relationships.
