As a practicing Buddhist, my background always inspires me to create works that demonstrate a certain spiritual essence beyond appearances. I believe there’s a deeper connection between all life forms in the universe, where they are all equally important. I aim to emphasize nature elements because they showcase a beautiful power that is so pure. Within their life cycles, I find the Buddhist philosophy manifesting.
Clay is my primary medium. It’s flexible and can be transformed into whatever shapes imaginable. Also, I prefer the raw surface it has after firing. I don’t know which part might crack or accidentally break, which could be a nice surprise sometimes even if it has to be fixed. At times I might choose to leave it as an interesting texture. It fits my idea to say that nothing is perfect.
As I admire the dignified postures of natural figures, I like to create the look of power but with a sense of stillness calm, and vulnerability. This is also the quality that I am seeking in myself as my journey involves an ongoing exploration and expression of the natural spirit through my artistic pursuits.
