Only recently I have pursued art full-time. Now, I wonder why I'd waited so long since I am never happier than when I am creating. I have put my hand to pen & ink, charcoal, and acrylic; but my first love will always be watercolor.
In the years leading up to this time, I'd worked the daily grind 9-5 and dabbled in art when I had time, which wasn't enough. A recent cancer diagnosis urged me to ask the question what do I want to do with the many years I have left? In a word: art. I researched and practiced for a couple of years before doing my first in-person show which was successful; I attended a few more and realized it was fun, but my dream was different. My new goal with acrylics is to be a successful licensed textile artist and, with watercolor ink and wash, to be a children's book illustrator.
In the laid-back meantime, I'm just enjoying the brush and palette, living the dream.
