Artist Bio
Alana Bigos (b. 2001, Vermont) is a multimedia artist. She works with painting, crochet, and ceramics. By crossing the respected art form of painting with the overlooked women’s craft of crocheting, Alana amplifies the mediums’ meticulous and time-consuming nature and draws a connection between the dedication both require. Crocheting is reminiscent of ritual, the way it is repetitive and happens continuously over time. It works on a three-dimensional set of layers, which is something that machines simply cannot do. Human connection, specifically between women, is the center of her work. Alana just graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in painting and ceramics.
