Artist Bio
I grew up along the California coast and natural elements have always been an influence on my expression through art.
As a child, I won a Save the Bay art contest creating a collage of a girl fishing bottles from a boat, using scraps of painted paper, real sand, and a real doll bottle. My next art experience wasn’t. I took a painting elective in college from Bay Area artist Frank Lobdell. It was through his teaching style, that I realized the freedom of expression available through art and particularly through paint. With the simple words keep painting and no other critique, Lobdell‘s influence has kept me painting as an adult.
I like to paint colors, light, texture, and layers. I use acrylic paint, oil pastels, natural objects, and photography. It is always an impression or an expression. My art does not fit a category. In fact, I have a strong dislike of boxes and was drawn to painting as a place to just be.
