Juliette Sandleitner

The aim of my artwork is to capture authentic moments, careful observations from everyday life, and subjects that evoke strong memories within myself and hopefully others. One of the most significant influences on my practice is my ever-increasing fascination with documentation and visiting past memories. Whether I am drawing, taking photographs, or sitting in my studio working on a painting, I seek ways to accurately record where I am in the hope of representing a sense of what will soon become a memory. I am interested in creating works that are not necessarily pretty, but true - both figuratively and emotionally. Light and composition are utilized to create specific moods and evoke thought. I strive to communicate the emotional impact of who, where, and how I am in the world, and how the world is in me.
