Artist Bio
I was born in San Antonio Texas in 1944 and I grew up in California graduating from San Luis Obispo High School in 1962.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978 from San Francisco State University where I studied under some of the leaders of the Bay Area Abstractionist Movement. Mel Henderson, Joe Hawley, Pat McKee, and Tom Thompson played key roles in shaping my early affinity for the bold and colorful rhythms of abstract expressionism. I have also studied with renowned painters George Post, Ken Sikora, Bob Burridge, and Bob Rhoades.
I returned to painting full-time 20 years ago, after an entrepreneurial career in telecommunications which literally took me around the world. My work in business start-ups in Portugal, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Taiwan, and Brazil has left me with a storehouse of images reflecting the cultural diversity and natural beauty of the places I have lived and worked.
As a previous partner at the Edgewater Gallery in Ft. Bragg, CA, I have sold my paintings to collectors around the world. I am inspired by the works of Joan Mitchell, David Park, the Society of Six, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
