Artist Bio
Eugene, Oregon-based artist Yasmin Staunau creates multi-disciplinary work shaped by her upbringing in South Africa, her global travels, and her deep observation of nature. Fluent in diverse mediums—including colored pencil, watercolor, gold leaf, and Sumi ink—she pairs a profound fascination with color theory with a love for bold, chromatic experimentation. Her stylistic approach fluidly transitions from realism and impressionism to vibrant abstraction and expressionism. As a high school studio art teacher, Staunau views her personal practice as a continuous experiment. Operating as an artistic problem-solver, she actively pushes past her comfort zone to embrace new technical challenges and craft deeply personal, highly emotive pieces.
