Amy Twomey is a mixed-media painter whose art manifests her life experiences, a kaleidoscope of emotions that explodes on canvas in the most captivating way. Her paintings may begin with a sense of direction, but they quickly take on their own life, transforming into something unexpected and truly awe-inspiring. Amy's art is an extension of her intuition, a state of meditation where she loses herself to the present moment and allows herself to listen, experience, and release her emotions on canvas.
For Amy, painting is a spiritual experience, a moment when nothing else matters, and she can drift off to a beautiful and curious world, leaving behind all the worries of the world. Looking closely, you will find repetitive symbols in all her work, such as tally marks, the number 5, birds, and crowns, representing her family and her life journey.
Amy believes that art is a necessity for everyone. It connects us with our emotions, evokes feelings we don't usually experience and offers empathy, relatability, and deep thinking. Art has become a part of her story, and she hopes to leave as much art as possible for others to enjoy and pass down to future generations.
Amy lives in Dallas, Texas, with her loving husband, Matt, and the last of their three children at home, who will graduate in 2025. They have a pile of pets and love exploring nature through camping, hiking, and traveling outside the city. They dream of settling in the desert on land with a simple home and an art studio where Amy can host creative healing retreats and paint.
Despite living with an incurable form of lymphoma since 2018, Amy has maintained her health through diet, staying active, getting enough sleep, having a fantastic community of friends, and, most importantly, doing what she loves – creating art.
"When you live in your zone of genius, everything seems to work out. Life is short, so do what you love."
