Artist Bio
Walter Jakubowski is a photographic artist specializing in abstract imagery that suggests a story. The story is that which is created in the mind of the viewer in response to the “painterly images that spark the imagination. The compositions intimate an ambiance that is emotionally vibrant, mysterious, and full of drama, blurring the distinction between photography and compositional poetic design. They are purely abstract, presenting elements of color, texture, and ambiguous forms.”
Walter attended Alfred State College where he received a degree in Engineering Science. Later he briefly attended Alfred University to study Painting and Photography. Using the camera to capture compositional studies he realized that the power of photography as a creative medium was quite compelling.
To pursue a more artistically creative calling he left the world of engineering to become an Industrial Design computer-aided surface sculptor. Post retirement he intently pursues his first love, photographic art. A nature landscape photographer since he first used the camera his work has transitioned into the exploration of the abstract. His work is held in private and corporate collections and has been exhibited in numerous national and international juried exhibitions where he has won several awards including a “Best of Show” and a 1st Place.
