Artist Bio
Amy Ruddy, known simply as Ruddy to friends and followers, is a self-taught oil painter based in Westfield, Indiana. Originally from Virginia Beach, her work is deeply rooted in her connection to the ocean, sunlight, and the quiet strength found in nature. A longtime special education interventionist turned emerging artist, Ruddy brings a peaceful warrior’s spirit to the canvas, standing firmly against all forms of discrimination and advocating for love, inclusion, and healing through her art.
She began painting after retiring from education, using oils to express emotions too big for words. Her work is inspired by light and love, often reflecting a deep longing for peace in a world that feels increasingly chaotic. In 2025, her debut painting, Prayer for Peace, was selected as one of 45 pieces for an international anti-war art exhibition—a powerful affirmation of her voice as an artist.
Through every brushstroke, Ruddy aims to create space for reflection, compassion, and hope. She believes art can be a gentle yet potent force for change, and she paints to remind us that even in darkness, light persists.
