Artist Bio
Although showing artistic abilities as a child, Robert Sholties did not seriously pursue an art career until his early 20s. His visualizations occasionally, and somewhat mysteriously, would reflect current world events, or even prove to appear prophetic. He is totally self-taught. His work is a commentary on our human existence -- our relations with each other, other living things, and our environment. His abstracts suggest living beings and objects, set in various landscapes, usually accompanied by evidence of chaos. One can recognize relationships among the images within individual pieces, but as in dreams, there are usually mysteries that are open to interpretation. His work has been shown in galleries in New York City and other venues, usually on the East Coast of the United States, in group and solo shows. His work is included in a number of private collections.
