I create abstract ceramic sculptures. My work is hand-built from fired red clay. I try to compose a fusion of organic and abstract elements to convey a solid physicality, as well as an earthy elegance. Each piece is one of a kind, inspired by my interest in nature, organic forms, and modernist design.
My sculptures express the beauty of nature and our innate kinship with our natural environment. Through abstraction, I translate my visions of natural shapes into organic forms to heighten the viewer's emotional connection with nature. Through my art, I highlight the beauty present in our environment and encourage viewers to consider their relationship with the natural world and their emotional connection to it.
I mirror what is around me in nature, pushing the limits of creating organic sculpture—understanding what internal environments my pieces could hold. I trust that a viewer can appreciate the beauty of imperfection and see how these works are much like ourselves and nature, full of complexity, hidden depths, and surprises and discover the beauty within my work.
