Artist Bio

Shanye Huang studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and graduated from Guangxi Arts University in China. He went abroad for solo exhibitions at invitation in England and the States and became a US citizen after being awarded a permanent US visa under an “outstanding artist” status in 1995. His large painting, Tapestry of Dreams, has inspired an American musician to create a grand dance symphony, and was made into a ballet premiered in NYC in 2009. Huang’s work has been featured in over 100 groups and solo exhibitions worldwide. His recent awards include the Creativity Projects Grant, Folklife Apprenticeship Grant, Public Art Planning Grant in Maryland, Foundation for Contemporary Art Fund in NYC, the US Artists Foundation Fund in Chicago, and The Art Bank Collection Fund in DC. Reviews of his work have been published in The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and the Fine Arts in China.
