Tom McIntire

My art journey has taken me from painting to performance to screenwriting and filmmaking and back again. The different disciplines have informed one another, presenting opportunities to grow and change my approach. The pandemic came along as I was already shifting to working in the painting studio as my primary practice. The strange world we are all navigating - claustrophobic, exposed, vulnerable - the emotions and situations forced me to re-examine who we are to one another, and how we can live together in a healthy, compassionate, inclusive way. The things that bring me joy, the garden, the animals, then the natural world, my pets, creep into even my darker work.
