Artist Bio

Jack Farkas, born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, discovered his passion for art early in life, nurtured by his Godparents, who introduced him to museums and books. This early exposure set the foundation for a lifelong dedication to creativity. He earned a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, an MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology, and pursued further graduate studies at Bradley University. At NYU, he expanded his expertise in Art History, Restoration, Identification, and Art Law. Farkas also contributed significantly to the recovery of Holocaust art looted during World War II, collaborating with top museum professionals.

His artistic skills span painting, printmaking, lithography, etching, woodcuts, serigraphy, calligraphy, and pottery, allowing him to express complex human emotions and universal themes. Beyond creating art, he taught at Gibbs College, Albertus Magnus College, and Housatonic Community College, influencing many students. He served as Dean of Gibbs College, owned Estate Fine Art and Associates, and was President of the Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra.

Farkas organized acclaimed exhibitions, including a solo show for Willem de Kooning, praised by the New York Times as the "Coup of the Century". Internationally recognized, he has lectured at institutions such as The Met, the National Gallery of Art, the Louvre, and the Guggenheim on art’s relationship with architecture. His work draws inspiration from life’s essence, blending color, shape, and symbolism to convey deep meaning across various mediums.
