Tanvi Ramesh

Artist Bio

Tanvi Ramesh is a fiber and mixed-media artist based in Fremont, California. Her work explores the intersections of sustainability, form, and cultural storytelling, blending traditional crochet with sculptural experimentation. Often working with repurposed and natural materials, she investigates how fiber can shift from soft craft to structural form, balancing the rigidity of starched lattices and mesh with the fluidity of spirals, curves, and shadows. In 2024, she launched her crochet small business, Tanvi’s Crochet Closet, where she uses recycled and sustainable yarn to create custom pieces and educates her community about textile waste and sustainable art practices. Her practice is inspired by natural patterns such as shells, roots, and her favorite plants, reimagined through fiber and mixed media. Through her art, Ramesh seeks to create works that highlight both resilience and vulnerability, inviting viewers to consider sustainability as both artistic process and cultural metaphor.
