Nancy C Jacques

Artist Bio

Nancy Jacques is an oil painter, loves to draw, and is a photographer. For the past 17 years, she has created work from themes of social and environmental justice, as well as figurative narrative, which reflects her varied career in and out of the art world. She taught art, became a systems counselor, then took advanced ecological training to work on climate change issues, creating two non-profits and consulting. She wrote a book on the intersection of the psyche and environmental awareness and founded her own publishing company in Durango, CO, for regional writers of the Southwest. But she returned to art and deals with subject matter to evoke a viewer's emotions.

Nancy’s artwork is held in private collections in Virginia, Kansas, and Arizona. She has exhibited work in the DC area, receiving Best in Show, and throughout Southern Arizona, where she has received two Honorable Mentions and two Best in Shows.

Nancy is a member of the International Society of Experimental Artists, the Portrait Society of America, the Southern Arizona Arts Guild, and the Arizona Photography Alliance. She has been a docent for the Tucson Museum of Art since 2015.

Nancy received her BFA degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1976, additional training toward an MA in art, plus five years of advanced training at the Art League School, outside of Washington DC, beginning in 2009.
