Ingeborg Frye
Artist Bio
Ingeborg was born and raised in The Netherlands. As a young child art was always part of her life as she was raised by an artist; her adoptive father.
He started teaching her when she was about seven years old. Together they explored most media, from basic pencil drawings to watercolors. He taught her about perspective, color, light and shadow, shape, proportions, various paper selections and canvas, choices of media, and whatever there was to learn and know.
In 1984 she moved to the United States where she raised four children, mostly as a single parent. Once they were adults, she refocused on art which is now her full-time joy and passion. She paints from her heart, whatever brings joy or pain. The medium she selects depends on what she hopes to achieve, whatever is more suitable for the particular need and desired outcome.
Pour painting is one of her specialties. However, rather than randomly submitting herself to what haphazardly may transpire during the process, she finds it a fascinating challenge to purposely give form and recognition with the end result in mind. In particular, she is interested in incorporating various paints or inks within the same piece, and the chemical effects that take place by doing so.
Her work is on display in several Florida and North Carolina-based galleries, where she is available to teach classes and workshops. She specifically has an interest in working with children or people with challenges.
