Caroline Avent

Artist Bio

Caroline Avent is a Denver-based artist originally from Newnan, Georgia. She started oil painting at 8, and quickly, art became her passion. In college at Washington & Lee University (Lexington, VA), she had the opportunity to paint across Italy. She graduated with a Studio Art minor from The University of Alabama.

For 15 years, she sacrificed creativity for corporate America. It wasn’t until surviving domestic violence and the collapse of an engagement that trauma was the catalyst to reclaim my creativity. My art was reborn after living in St. George, UT, where I was told “I wasn’t allowed” to paint in Utah. I started painting in secret, and my work became my silent rebellion; yet, my loudest voice.

I truly took up painting again in April 2025. I transformed a $40/month storage unit in my apartment into an art studio. I painted to heal, and in doing so, I found myself again.

In less than a year, I have experienced more artistic velocity than I imagined:

- “Abuela” was displayed on a jumbotron during New York City’s ‘No King’s Protest,’ October 2025.
- My work has been featured in 17 exhibitions across 12 galleries.
- My work has been featured 7 times in Denver’s iconic 1st Friday Art Walk, attended by 10,000+ people.
- Awarded a full grant to the Art Students League of Denver, enabling unlimited study with museum-shown mentors.
- At my 1st art exhibition, Rejectamenta II, my art was sold on opening night.
- By August 2025, I joined the board of Art Contained Del Sol, shaping its vision while continuing to grow my own.
- And in September 2025, I was invited to live paint during First Friday at Remain Real Fine Art.
- September 2025, joined the board of directors for the art gallery Art Contained del Sol.

What began in a Denver storage unit has turned into something that feels bigger than me - I’m not painting simply as a creative outlet, I am creating a voice and a vision - which is rooted in radical authenticity, unapologetic vulnerability, and turning pain into power. Built from trauma transmuted, identity reclaimed, and silence shattered.

My work is a revolution of vulnerability — where ego is overthrown and perfection is deconstructed.
