Anita Barnes

Artist Bio

Anita Barnes is a sculptor and avid flower gardener based in Houston, TX, originally from Wilmington, DE. Her artistic journey began with a foundation year at Syracuse University, followed by studies in fiber arts at Franconia College in New Hampshire. She later pursued graphic design at the Philadelphia College of Art.

With a lifelong passion for craft and creativity, Anita has explored a diverse range of mediums, including fibers, clay, collage, and jewelry. She ran a soft sculpture studio catering to interior decorators, where she designed and crafted custom textile pieces. Her artistic career has also spanned set design, painting stage backdrops, sculpting props of all sizes, and creating hand-painted signage.

In 2017, she began making found-object garden sculptures, which later evolved into indoor mixed-media works in 2020. Her sculptures blend handcrafted and repurposed elements, resulting in whimsical, colorful, and eclectic pieces that bring a sense of joy and playfulness to any space.
