My Art ranges in “Influence” from The Old Masters to the French Impressionists. Rembrandt’s beautiful painting of his wife, “Saskia” I have painted In Homage to the great man. The work is so delicate and empathetic, the luminous skin tones set against the vibrant vermillion velvet of her feathered chapeau, so striking. I was compelled to try to capture some of this wonder. In “Cafe Noir” I have endeavored to capture the thrill and excitement of the 19th century Cafe Street Scene of Paris, although this is set in Amsterdam; an eclectic mix of people jostling to be heard. In “Cafe Life, St. Tropez, I have depicted the” influence” of the romance and Spring Air of Southern France, the atmosphere “jolie” and light heated in every sense.

With a background as a professional musician, I bring a somewhat unusual set of perceptions to my vision in photography. Line, rhythm, harmony, and structure in music find their counterparts naturally in images — in nature, the built environment, and in abstract photography. How all this is expressed in macro photography particularly fascinates me. To me, these images resemble a theme with endless variations in detail, color, form, and beauty.

Séraphine’s vitae of awards and accolades are extensive. Her paintings are hung internationally in private and museum collections. She has exhibited in 25 museums and 162 galleries. She is a recognized teacher at colleges and universities, privately in her studio, via the Internet, and with many youth enrichment programs.

In 1977 she had the great honor of mentoring Georgia O’Keefe at her Abiquiu, NM studio/home.

Her innate talent to visually communicate her love of the regenerative power of nature calls the viewer to look past the veils of everyday life. When she is painting her focus is this deep relationship with Mother Earth, the ancestor of us all. Her paintings speak of a world beyond technology. They ask the viewer to breathe, to remember, to return to their roots, and to feel their connection to all that is.

Through my paintings I experience intimate communication with my subjects be they from the natural world, human or animal, sculptural, abstract, or hyper-photo-realism. My inspirations want the viewer to remember them for they are more than a passing moment in time or a simple picture of that moment. They want to be heard and to live within us, carried in our spirits.

I was an artist from an early age, experimenting with drawing, charcoal, acrylic painting, and mixed media in grade school through high school. However, I put art on hold while I pursued a finance career which allowed me to travel the world living in London, Prague, Taipei, Johannesburg, and across the US.

After retiring and moving to Colorado, I attended a soft pastels art class in February 2023 and rediscovered a passion for art. Art has become my “next act’.

I am proud to have been accepted into numerous juried art shows and asked to donate pieces directly to charity fundraisers. I call my business Do Good Art since I donate 100% of the profits of all sales to charities that focus on issues like cancer, food insecurity, and homelessness. In so doing, my goal is to make the world a little better place through art and giving.

So join me in Doing Good (through) Art.

My mission for my art is to Do Good (through) Art by creating the best art I can and by donating 100% of the net proceeds of all sales to charity. My current focus is supporting the American Cancer Association’s efforts to eliminate cancer as this is a cause close to my family’s heart. I often take inspiration for my art from my travels whether it be hiking in the foothills and mountains around my home, throughout the US, or across the globe. My pieces often include landscapes that highlight sunsets, clouds, and the interplay of light on water. That said, I have diverse collections including landscapes, sunsets, water (oceans, rivers, lakes), National Park-inspired works, and flowers. My primary medium is soft pastels, but I also do watercolors and colored pencil pieces.

Barbara West is an orthodontist and an artist. Her style is contemporary realism. Her mediums include oil, pastel, and monotype her subjects include landscapes, still lifes, florals, animals, and boats.

Barbara studied art at the University of Pitty, the Rhode Island School of Design, the Boston museum school, and the de Cordova Museum School. And numerous workshops.

Barbara has been juried into many wits.

I love to create art. Sometimes a scene just catches your heart or takes your breath away. Trying to express what that scene or object makes me feel is what my art is about.

Calla Lily

Aubrey Maurer is an artist splitting her time between Lancaster and Schuylkill County Pennsylvania. Her work laces personal connections with fine arts to showcase natural surroundings from her home in Schuylkill County which provides unending inspiration Her subjects have often organic in nature. She admires the subtle beauty of unknown, uncharted. By sculpturing these places, she gives new meaning to them, allowing them to be seen in a different light.

I create abstract ceramic sculptures. My work is hand-built from fired red clay. I try to compose a fusion of organic and abstract elements to convey a solid physicality, as well as an earthy elegance. Each piece is one of a kind, inspired by my interest in nature, organic forms, and modernist design.
My sculptures express the beauty of nature and our innate kinship with our natural environment. Through abstraction, I translate my visions of natural shapes into organic forms to heighten the viewer’s emotional connection with nature. Through my art, I highlight the beauty present in our environment and encourage viewers to consider their relationship with the natural world and their emotional connection to it.

I mirror what is around me in nature, pushing the limits of creating organic sculpture—understanding what internal environments my pieces could hold. I trust that a viewer can appreciate the beauty of imperfection and see how these works are much like ourselves and nature, full of complexity, hidden depths, and surprises and discover the beauty within my work.

Herbert Appelson was born in 1937 in New York City; studied at Brooklyn College, received his M.F.A. at the University of Wisconsin, and an Ed.D. from Columbia University. Appelson specializes in printmaking and the relief technique. The graphic pieces in the exhibition, which he calls “hand threaded embossments,” are dimensional compositions in form, line, and texture. They are prints that activate the flat surface of the paper and possess true sculptural qualities

Appelson’s prints have been Featured in many shows including the A.A.A. and Macy Galleries in New York, the Art Alliance and Woodmere Museum in Pennsylvania, and the Trenton State Museum in New Jersey. In addition, his works are represented in a number of public and private collections such as the Noyes Museum, Kansas State, Auburn, Columbia, and Wisconsin Universities.

My present works, which I call “hand-threaded embossments,” are an attempt to combine papers and threads into a creative art medium. I wanted to create prints that activated the flat surface of the paper and possessed true sculptural qualities.

Working primarily with geometric designs, the paper was embossed or folded into three-dimensional shapes. The dimensional facets of these shapes were further increased by the use of an overlay of different kinds of threads. This embossment process represented a dual experiment: on the one hand, it expressed the beauty of the matrix; and on the other, created a sculptural composition in form, line, and texture.

Kylo-Patrick Hart is an award-winning photographer and chair of the Department of Film, Television, and Digital Media at Texas Christian University (Fort Worth, Texas, USA). He received his formal training in digital media arts while a student at the University of Michigan and Wayne State University, with additional instruction provided by offerings of the Maine Media Workshops and Santa Fe Workshops. His photographs have been exhibited in numerous cities throughout the United States and in several countries abroad.

Photography has been my passion since early childhood. My motivation is to discover and capture the beauty, even when it is not always readily self-evident, that surrounds us continuously in all areas of our everyday lives. I believe the finest images are those that are serious yet playful, aesthetically appealing yet a bit quirky. As both an artist and an admirer, my favorite photographs tend to be ones whose contents speak loudly for themselves — even when it is not immediately clear exactly what they are saying. They seek to inspire their viewers to wrestle with their intriguing content and, as a result, ponder various aspects of our surrounding world in new and unique ways.
