Chris Busch has an A.A.S. degree in Commercial Art and worked in a large medical center doing desktop publishing and operating printing systems. She has participated in online exhibitions at Grey Cube Gallery, Art Room Gallery, and Artifact NYC.
I’m Chris Busch from Dallas, Pennsylvania. I grew up in Pennsylvania in the Blue Mountains. My work is inspired by history, wildlife, and the natural world. Throughout my life, I’ve been fascinated by images, light, and color. I work in oil and acrylic painting, and photography. I have experience with photo editing software and use my photos as a reference for painted works, combining elements from different photos to create something new.
The “Blue Iris” photo was taken after a summer storm. I liked the effect of the water droplets on the flower. Iris traditionally symbolized faith, hope, courage, wisdom, and admiration. I did a lot of editing in Photoshop to achieve the final image.

Stacie Flint’s paintings and portraits are owned nationally and internationally. Based in New York’s Hudson Valley, she has exhibited extensively throughout the region, and in New York City, various U.S. states, and Canada. Her art has been featured on numerous magazine covers and has appeared in various publications. She illustrated a children’s book and several music CD covers. Her commissioned public art is on permanent display in Ulster County and is in the permanent collection of regional institutions.
My contemporary paintings use accessible imagery in a playful, expressionist manner, and color in a bold, captivating way. I am interested in the energy of everyday life, and whatever the imagery, I intuitively create that “full of life” sensation.
With acrylic paint on canvas, I compose people, places, and objects from my life, imagination, and reference photos to reinvent with emotion and love. The work could be a quirky narrative or a harmonious painterly. The canvases are immediate, meditative, honest, soulful, relatable, and fun.
My favorite artists are Matisse and Hockney.
With my painting, I aspire to beauty, connection, celebration, inner knowing, a good smile, and something lasting.
Blue Monday
Charlene’s art journey started at a young age, from the age of 5 until about 15 she used to regularly paint alongside her Granny using oil paints. Charlene went on to graduate from University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She has explored a wide variety of mediums including printmaking, charcoal, pencils, acrylics, and watercolor painting. She has recently found a passion for painting with ink and tea.
Born in South Africa, her work is regularly inspired by African patterns and animals.
One of the most significant moments in her life was losing her sister to depression. Following this event, Charlene has made it her goal to release kindness and happiness into the world, usually through her art, but often just by simple everyday acts of kindness, like complimenting a stranger. Having suffered from mental health issues herself, Charlene understands the inner turmoil of feeling depressed and wanting to be happy. Of succumbing to feeling grief but staying in control of those emotions. Her paintings often reflect this conflict. Her free-flowing fluid ink paintings are juxta positioned by the tightly controlled, precise line work she draws over the ink. These ink markings often lead Charlene into a kind of meditative state which helps her mental health on a level that nothing else can. Her aspiration is to bring a positive emotion into the world, be that via her artwork, or her honest demeanor as a human.
I painted her on what is known in the UK as ‘Blue Monday’. It’s said to be the most depressing day of the year. a day when most people tend to feel down and blue, a day when I too felt down and blue.
Having suffered from mental health issues throughout my adult life, I’ve often felt like a ‘weak woman who simply can’t get a grip on life’. But as I’ve matured, I’ve also learned that alongside my weakness, I also hold an inner strength. A resilience that only exists because of my battle against feeling weak and useless. My art is something I know I can rely on to help me through these times. This piece is a testament to that. ‘Monday’ is a reminder that there is beauty, even during sadness. That there is hope, even when you feel nothing but despair. We as women in particular have an inner strength, despite being depicted as the weaker species. And that sometimes we need to experience weakness and sadness in order to recognize this. It’s a reminder that no matter how weak of a woman I feel, I am also strong. ‘Monday’ encapsulates both feminine beauty and yet her stare is one of fiery resolve. She is a woman that is comfortable in her own skin, and that in itself is more beautiful than physical appearance.

Since forever women have been the subject of great art, but rarely were we allowed to create great art. As a female artist living in the 21st Century, I find great inspiration in the female icons of the past. Famous women from Marie Antoinette to Miley Cyrus, have served as profound sources of inspiration for me, due to their distinctive styles and unique spirits. In my art practice, I explore the contrast between the public portrayal of the women I admire and their true selves. My aim is to discover how the images of these influential women, given by pop culture, impact and shape my own artistic impressions of them. Just like the women I paint, I am an unconventional woman in the eyes of my society and with my art practice I want to invite viewers to look past the glittering images and see the depth and complexity of the women I paint, myself included.
Ultimately, my work serves as a reflection and exploration of this complex dynamic. While my intention is to showcase the vibrant and visually captivating image that pop culture has crafted around the women I idolize, I also remain very conscious of the underlying darkness that hides beneath the surface of their seemingly lighthearted images.
As a Finn, I grew up on satire, dark humor, and happy endings and that is well reflected in my work. At first glance, my cartoonish mixed media paintings may depict my subject’s pop culture image perfectly, which is usually colorful, ditzy, and lacking in substance, but I am actually satirizing our perceptions of my female heroines. We are all guilty of prioritizing a person’s image over the narrative. But whether the viewer understands this duality or not, I still want them to have a good time when viewing my artwork.
I choose to work with acrylics, rhinestones, and glitters because their vibrant hues and plastic textures are well suited for creating eye-catching artworks that are unique to me, and perfect for the subject matter.

Artist Tina Christiansen is a registered Architect in California, she is an American painter who works in acrylics and watercolor. She also creates works of art on silk. Her style transcends realism to reveal something more than an image that is only a reflection of her subjects. She is as concerned with the attitude of a fish as its iridescence. Her seascapes capture the spirit of a moment in time. She paints the refraction and piercing brilliance of light above and below the surface of the sea. She studies the effects of various atmospheric phenomena. Her work is in private and public collections throughout the United States. She has been selected as an artist for public works of art in the cities of Coronado and San Diego, California. Her work has been selected for cover art for several publications.
She holds a master’s degree in architecture from VirginiaTech, and a Bachelor of Architecture and Environmental design degree from the University of Florida. She founded the Coronado Artist’s Colony in 2015, when she owned and operated a gallery in Coronado to exhibit her work and that of other talented island artists. Her paintings are most often of the sea.
My work explores life from an intrinsic point of view. I studied art before I entered architectural school. I later graduated with a Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Environmental Design and Architecture from the University of Florida. I became both a professional artist and an architect. I work in acrylics to create fine art as a painter of both what is real and the abstraction of what lies beneath. California native, currently living in Truckee. Both of my parents are artists and also growing up in Carmel gave me a great creative environment. Discovering photography very early, around ten, helped me find my unique vision and sense of aesthetics. I was always drawing, figuring it out on my own. In college, Cal Poly SLO, applied art and design with photography were my studies. To give myself time to find my direction and style I landed in the restaurant business, so the nighttime career was supporting my art career. I found opportunities to exhibit my art throughout California and Scottsdale Az through gallery features. Dealing with the demands of life there have been slow times, but currently, I am constantly working and doing my most exciting work.
I have a thing for realism and minimalism. With my background in photography, I see things within a frame. By learning to focus on what’s primary in a scene and just develop that imagery it doesn’t need a bigger context or classic scene. This lets the viewer imagine their own context and story. That’s what can make a piece personal to each viewer. I learn as I go, improving my technique and how I use color. Experimenting more with texture and classic looks. Always trying to achieve new levels of harmony and finesse. Since I’m self-taught I’ve figured out a mixture of media that I use to achieve my drawings. Through mixing and layering colored pencils I have found a painterly style to make my effects happen.
