“To take my inner visions with my hands and create a work of art for you the viewer… That is the ultimate in self-expression.”

Cher Pruys was born in Regina. Over the years she lived in many places including Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, and Fort Frances, settling into her present home in Devlin, on the banks of the Rainy River with her husband Mark, 4 dogs, and 2 cats.

By age three, Cher was seldom found without a drawing tool in hand. She worked in pencil, charcoal, and ink over the years, until, she picked up a paintbrush at the age of 35. Beginning with oil paints, she found her chosen mediums in acrylic, watercolor, and gouache.

Although self-taught, her dedication and talent have seen her work juried into 521 International exhibits, as well as exhibits in numerous non-juried shows. She has won 800 awards for her work in the International Juried Exhibits.

Her work has graced the covers of 3 books, and 37 magazines, including The Best Of Acrylic Fall 2021, the cover of the May 2022 Arabella Magazine, #20 Hyperrealism Magazine with “Girls Girls Girls”, & #21 with “The Young Cowboy”, & the latest, Artists & Illustrators March 2024. She has been featured in over 368 International publications. Cher’s works have found a permanent home in private and public collections worldwide.

I am a self-taught artist working in water-based mediums, mainly acrylic, but also at times gouache and watercolor. I am a hyperrealism painter fascinated by the world around me. I am very drawn to shiny surfaces as well as transparent objects, especially when the lighting brings them to life. I look for beauty in everyday objects that most people take for granted or just don’t truly see as they are. The seemingly boring and mundane subjects can truly be like magnets if portrayed in the right light. The shiny metal is one of those materials that can host endless visions….the light hits it and the reflections are captured on the smooth, sleek surface…people and animals especially the eyes…an artist’s dream! My future art plans are to paint the countless subjects I have chosen to become paintings and to share my art with as many people as I can.

Flowers bring joy to my life. I find joy in growing different types of sunflowers at my house in Albuquerque, New Mexico every year from seed. These yellow blossoms of joy seem to smile at me during their blooming season. During this time in the growing season, I photograph my sunflowers with my digital camera. I transform these digital images into beautiful and colorful digital images. I compile and create this image into art publications to sell on Amazon. Flowers do play an important role in my creative process and journey!!!!

Sunflowers For A Season

Catherine rediscovered her passion for painting 15 years ago, seeking solace after major life changes. Initially focusing on drawing classes, she eventually embraced painting at the encouragement of mentors. Despite initial hesitance, she found profound joy in the process, reminiscent of her college art days. Through dedication and connections with local artists, she honed her skills, transitioning between plein-air painting and studio work. Exhibiting her art since 2011, Catherine’s bold use of color reflects her deep childhood connection to creativity, something she witnessed in both of her parents. Born in Vancouver and now based in New Jersey, she runs a dog boarding business while pursuing her art, drawing inspiration from many of the masters and she loves the Fauvists. Her goal? To create artworks that captivate viewers and connect them to something beyond the surface.

Life has a complexion of its own. The chroma of mine is not so separate from my painting and there is something about color that has always drawn my interest. As an observer and participant in the changing hues, I ultimately stand alone with a perspective influenced by the roads I’ve chosen. And although the subjects I prefer to interpret on canvas dance in the realm of tradition there is a more personal search for hope and freedom underneath.

The simplified forms and radiant colors I work with connect me to a feeling of love: a necessary and creative life source I often felt separated from and didn’t know I needed. Whether I work within the context of a landscape or still life, the redirects with the brush and bold-shaped silhouettes stand with me adding to a healing mosaic of creativity.

I’ve realized the only way to continue moving forward in my creativity is to risk exposure and keep painting.

Susan Brinkmann was born in Southampton (United Kingdom) in 1963. When she was seven years old, her family moved to the Netherlands, where she still lives and works now.

After studying at the Academy of Arts in Tilburg, Susan soon specialized in realistic portrait drawing, and now receives international portrait commissions.
Her work has been exhibited in both solo- and group exhibitions in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Belgium, and Greece, and has been published in many international art magazines and books.

Creating art, for me, is about studying my subjects profoundly and showing what lies beneath the surface. Many people say that I show the actual ‘soul’ of my subjects in my portraits, which is my primary target. To see, and show what lies below the surface, or ‘under the skin’. It has to be more than just a good likeness of my subject, and more than an illustration.

My artwork is highly realistic, many say photo realistic. Artists’ quality colored pencils are my main medium. When making portraits, I use pencils or graphite, because they allow a high degree of detail.

Immediately after Secondary School, she took various painting and sculpture lessons, followed for several years by painting lessons in the Stedelijk Museum with the painter Peter Schenk. She also followed and completed the evening academy at the “Kleine Academie” in Amsterdam and enrolled at the Rietveld Academy. Marianne also followed a teacher training in drawing and textiles. At that time, she gave lessons at a school in Amsterdam. She initially worked with various materials such as oil paint, pastel, watercolor, gouache, etc. The last few years have mainly been with acrylics. She works from her own studio.

Marianne also makes and paints objects. She regularly works on assignments and exhibits at home and abroad, in both galleries and museums. She has won several prizes, both nationally and internationally. Marianne is a member of the VAK. Marianne signs her work under the name MARFEL.

How I experience the world, life, my contact with people, and nature around me is the starting point for connecting with this through my art. I express this emotionally through the colors and shapes in my work and the title that ultimately gives my paintings. Through my art, I try to express the feeling that lives inside and outside me and the world, and to convey this to the viewer, and visitors of my work and in that way make connections. I also want to make people happy with my art. My country, the Netherlands, is flat, and that is why we have to do water management to prevent flooding. That inspired me in this painting, which shows water movement and stillness.

The sun rises every day, but always gives a different feeling and experience. I showed this in my last paintings.

Sunny Flower In The Rain

I have been interested in art since my childhood. I won an egg decorating contest in third grade and a poster contest in fourth grade. When I was a student at the University of Michigan, my design was selected, among many others, for the West Quad Hall T-shirt. One of my paintings was accepted into the juried Kalamazoo Institute of Arts 2020 West Michigan Area Show. In 2022 and 2021, my paintings were accepted into the juried Westminster Art Festival. My photography was accepted into the juried 2022 NCCA Artsplace Statewide Photography Competition Exhibition, and the juried You and Your Camera online exhibition at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. One of my paintings was accepted into Magix 2022: Dream, Fantasy, Illusion, Imagination, and Magic sponsored by Exhibizone and Biafarin. My prints were accepted into the juried 2022 Art 4 Animals exhibit at the Red Bluff Art Gallery. Finally, my art has been displayed online at Las Laguna Art Gallery and the HMVC Gallery New York.

I create art in a variety of media, including watercolor on rice paper, pastels, photography, printmaking, pencil, and charcoal. I also write poetry, which has won awards and been published, and play a variety of musical instruments alone and in various ensembles. In addition, I have a strong educational background in science, math, and engineering. In whatever visual arts medium I work, nature is usually my subject, whether I am portraying a single flower or animal, or landscape. Sometimes, I feel that focusing on details can increase my understanding of a subject. However, I do try to maintain a balance between concentrating on important minutia and retaining the overall, far-reaching view. I find that many subjects in nature can seem fleeting and ephemeral, yet I feel that they possess a timeless constancy as well, and I attempt to communicate this. In my art, I like to explore how nature, imagination, literature, and science collaborate together to enrich our lives.

Debórah Anne Kaufman, a native of the Southern California Coastline, has demonstrated her exuberant, passionate creativity through writing, song, music, dance, and fine art, from the age of five. At the age of ten, she began her formal education in technical drawing, painting, and sculpture, especially focused on life drawing under the mentorship of Founder/Director, Ed Buttwinck of the Brentwood Art Center.

Inspired by the Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet of the High Renaissance, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Debórah emphasizes the beauty, grace, and strength she sees in the human figure through realism. Honing her technical skills, she produces large vibrant, colorful pieces in acrylic paint and chalk pastel of the human figure and its interaction with nature.
Debórah received her BFA in Live Action and Computer Animation at the California Institute of the Arts. Her thesis, an educational film on child abuse, Into Your Heart, was premiered by the National Committee for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, archived in the National Library Clearinghouse of Information in Washington D.C., and distributed by AIMS Media.
Working in the entertainment industry, her work developed from realism to super-realism and surrealism through works including a children’s story, Roots ’N’ Wings by British musician and music video director Lol Creme, and Parasite Eve, a role-playing video game developed by Square, a sequel to the novel written by Hideaki Sena.

Debórah received a Master’s in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in Trauma and Co-Occurring Disorders, and an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at Phillips Graduate Institute in 1991. She utilized realism, super-realism, and surrealism to explore and delve into the depths of the subconscious through Art Therapy.

Debórah explores the connection between people, animals, and the natural world, exploring our integration and virtues with nature versus our separation, sins, disconnection, and extinction.

From an early age, I recognize I have special gifts in the creative arts from writing to music, song, and dance, to drawing, painting, and sculpting, which I utilize to express and share my thoughts, feelings, and beliefs with others – Heart, Mind, Body, and Soul!

The moment I put pencil to paper, paintbrush to canvas, or hands to clay; time and space disappear as I immerse myself into the process. My conscious mind, free from judgment, I feel fully at peace with an exhilarating connection to nature and life around me within the Astral Universe.

As I strive to master the use of color, design, composition, perspective and perception, positive and negative space, human anatomy, and technical illustration; my work exemplifies realism, super-realism, surrealism, the subconscious and non-conscious mind.

I enjoy the challenge of double entendre, innuendo, puns, and play on words to explore and share my unique perspective, use of humor, and thought-provoking concepts and ideas beyond the mundane to expand individual, community, and global perceptions.

I seek to convey my concerns about being human at a crossroads, in which we must choose a path of positive virtues and a return to nature to gain insight, clarity, efficacy, empowerment, and enlightenment, to attain the 12 Laws of the Universe: divine oneness, vibration, attraction, correspondence, action, cause and effect, compensation, perpetual transmutation of energy, relativity, polarity, rhythm, and gender and the 12 Laws of Karma: The great law, creation, humility, growth, responsibility, connection, focus, giving and hospitality, here and now, change, patience and reward, and significance and inspiration; versus the negative path of immorality and the 12 Deadly Sins: pride, envy, greed, lust, gluttony, wrath, sloth, hypocrisy, ignorance, denial, tribalism, and Gnosticism, in which money, power, property, and prestige divert us from our primary purpose to extinction.

Maria Votek is a contemporary artist based in Boca Raton, Florida. Her abstract paintings explore color, texture, and emotion through layered compositions in oil, acrylic, and mixed media, often using molding paste and crackle effects to create depth and movement.

A children’s book illustrator with a pharmacy degree from the Moscow Medical Academy, Maria brings a clear, structured sensibility to her creative process—grounded in scientific rigor yet open to intuitive discovery. Although not a direct descendant, she is proud to share a distant family link to Wassily Kandinsky—a heritage that quietly supports and inspires her practice.
Her work has been featured in galleries, online exhibitions, and international publications, including Artistonish Magazine.

Inspired by the illustrations that shaped my childhood, my art explores the beauty and vitality of the natural world. Working primarily with oil and acrylic paints, I aim to bring nature’s essence to life through vibrant colors and textures. My background in children’s book illustration infuses my work with a sense of wonder and playfulness, encouraging viewers to reconnect with their imagination.
