My great passion in life is Abstract painting, traditional Oil on Canvas is my medium. I take inspiration from the beauty of the natural landscape. Art is LOVE!

My work in fine arts has principally been in 2 classes of abstract paintings: oils and water-based paints. However, I have completed numerous works in drawing. I focus on color, texture, methodology of delivery, and composition. In composition, I am interested in positive space and negative space as well. I believe the painting/drawing is a manifestation of my emotional state of both conscious and unconscious feelings.

I’m interested in the concept of a personal mythology, a working language of imagery with which we construct the world. When I visit a foreign city, I photograph what I love most: the old neighborhoods, the farmer’s markets, the workers who are exhausted by day’s end, the vulnerable, and those whose lives are connected to the street. I’m interested in the classical world view, which did not see the same split between body and mind, dark and light as our present time. So the substance of the world itself was divine.

I create luminary nature and motion—paintings where landscapes, wildflowers, horses, birds, still lives, and abstract color fields all carry the same living energy. Often working in a realistic, open impressionist, or abstract and expressive style, I use luminous skies, vibrant color, and rhythmic brushwork to capture the feeling of being fully alive in the natural world. Whether it’s a herd of horses thundering through dust, a quiet bayou sanctuary, a vase of flowers, or a canvas of swirling color, my work invites you into moments of calm, joy, and motion all at once. This use of luminary nature and motion turns the landscapes, florals, animals, or abstracts into living energy on the canvas. This gives my work a very recognizable emotional fingerprint: tranquil yet not sleepy, serene but still pulsing with life. Whether I am painting representational, impressionistic, or abstract, my art shares a joyful, life-forward chroma. This mix of structured subject and liberated mark-making is a big part of my art.

I have been a concept artist for the past few years, the responsibility of my job is to provide problem-solving art and design for art directors from video games and animation projects. Now I am exploring more different art fields and media, I hope to be a visual artist whose art can express their own feelings and inspire other people.

Art gave me an outlet with which to help cope with the loss of my husband. It started as an escape from grief, but later transformed into a channel with which to explore my quest for self-awareness, to find my individuality which somehow had gotten lost through the years.

My pieces are mostly representational, yet I add a sprinkle of abstract pieces to my portfolio. Unlike the representational pieces I create, my abstracts hint at my playful side. I experiment with various tones and color mixes, fluid and acrylic blends, as well as various types of paper, and create textures with rollers, sponges, molding paste, and gesso, to name a few. Using a variety of tools and materials unlocks my creativity. Abstraction permits me to escape. It gives me freedom. My personal objective as an artist is to create a visual welcome mat that will invite the audience to visit me, not only as an artist, but as an individual. If I succeed, I will have proven to myself that I have reached one of my most important goals as an artist. To accomplish this, I write a personal message behind the artwork I sell. This will open a silent conversation between me and the one whom I have befriended through my piece.

I have explored and enjoyed the beauty of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Maine, the Jersey Shore, Greece, and Peru. In 2025, I will be visiting the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Belgium. I look forward to the future, to what imagery and beauty await me with my camera or in plein air mode…because there is always something or someone that will ignite my desire to create.

I love color and sharing paintings with people. Currently, my work is comprised of landscapes, flowers, and some abstracts. I use acrylics, gels, and modeling paste which produces lots of texture. My work dispels the old belief that artwork should not be touched. I love it when a viewer touches a piece and makes a connection. A recent collector who received a painting as a gift wrote me a note. “I have loved that painting since you posted it on Facebook. You have no idea how happy I am. I cried.” This is what art is about for me. Having the privilege of making a connection with people and in turn they have an emotional experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to move people in that way.

I create art in several media, including pencil, charcoal, watercolor, pastel, photography, and printmaking. I also write poetry, which has won awards and been published, and play a variety of musical instruments, including piano, harpsichord, carillon, clarinet, flute, recorder, mandolin, violin, guitar, and viola. In addition, I have a strong educational background in science, math, and engineering. In whatever medium I work, nature is usually my subject, whether I am portraying a single flower or animal, or a landscape. Sometimes, I feel that focusing on details can increase my understanding of a subject. I do try to maintain a balance, however, between concentrating on important minutia and retaining the overall, far-reaching view. I feel that many subjects in nature can seem fleeting and ephemeral, yet I feel that they also possess a timeless constancy. In my art, I like to explore how nature, imagination, literature, and science collaborate together to enrich our lives.

My medium is kiln-formed glass which involves melting glass in kilns to create 2D and 3D works of art. With a background in painting, I use glass in similar ways that I used to paint. I am attracted to glass for its versatility, vibrant color, and ability to transmit, reflect, and project light.
