Rosie The Super Nurse

Bryan Bromstrup is a self-taught artist who started oil painting in 2013 after suggestions from family artists going back four generations. He paints what he enjoys in life or whatever excites the artist inside him. Bryan continues to expand his artistic talents in oil painting and photography and other digital art concepts. Originally, from Beech Grove, IN he currently resides in Terre Haute IN.

Bryan’s art comes from life experiences. It might be from pop culture or from observing interesting things around him, but it definitely comes from music, travel, and his love for the National Parks. “I’ve learned something new from every painting I have ever done. As I get older, I find the artist in me has come to the forefront, expanding the simple things I always did into pieces of art. When it comes to being creative, I look beyond the how to do it and enjoy the process of just letting the brush work its magic.” Bryan’s artwork rarely overlaps in representation as all have a distinct style so he likes to call his art style, “Bryanism”. You can find his art regularly on display throughout Indiana and online at galleries across the U.S.

Considering the theme, “Women”, I have chosen the piece that I believe reflects the beauty, adventure, and super caring nature inside each of you! Busy Being Fabulous is a painting representing the natural beauty of all women. Rosie the Super Nurse came out of the great deeds of nurses during the hardship of Covid 19. It exemplifies great qualities in women of the 21st Century and beyond.

Sylvia Bandyke, Royal Oak, MI, USA, is largely a self-taught photographer, having taken studio and art history classes in college. She began her art career by displaying photo collages in ArtPrize, an independent international art competition in Grand Rapids, MI, from 2014 to 2018. Subsequently, she has been juried into more than 100 group exhibitions in 24 states and accepted into numerous online international exhibitions. An awarded artist, she keeps an eye open for interesting views of a subject while looking for hidden beauty every day. Most recently, she was a caregiver to her elderly mother and was able to create some memorable, unique art as a result of this experience.

I prefer using the collage format to integrate associated images into a cohesive unit that is even more compelling because of the embedded story. Having been a playwright and technical writer, I am accustomed to delivering content with a message. So now, as a visual communicator, I continue to provide meaning via the structure of the collage format, wherein the four photos confirm, augment, or even contradict each other if warranted. I enjoy offering the richness that the multiplicity of images provides, along with the impact gained through thoughtful positioning of them. Ultimately, I intend to have my work act as a doorway to the viewer’s own mental and emotional framework regarding the collection of images, perhaps finding their own very personal meaning in them.

Rough Around The Edges

She started painting art on canvas two years ago and since then, has studied art in various courses and is currently studying in art school. She has had many exhibitions in galleries like TheHolyArt London, the Capital culture house in Madrid, and the M.A.D.S art gallery. She was also with a cultural book Art Anthology IV 2021, curated by Guto Ajayu in Madrid. She was awarded the art prize Donatello 2023, curated by Salvatore and Francesco Russo with Fondazione Effetto Arte and the publication contemporary celebrity masters.

I started painting after a career crisis in 2020. I was working as a healthcare professional and went through burnout, which ultimately led me to switch my career to business and finance. During the crisis, I needed something to let go of and process my feelings so I registered for a painting course. I just fell in love with making art! I love that I can do something with my hands, work with beautiful bold colors and express myself. Art saved me.

I create artwork that is meant to be a moment of inspiration and joy. My process is intuitive, I start by using bold colors and let my feelings guide me from there. I love the colors magenta and turquoise, and metallic paints. Bright and beautiful colors make me happy. My way of using contrasting details and multiple layers adds texture that is unique to my artwork. With my artwork, I want to convey the message that we all need to love ourselves, take care of ourselves, and appreciate life! Everything happens for a reason and we should just travel within life`s current and trust. I want to bring beauty into homes and remind us of our own strength and the importance of love and gratefulness.

Round ‘N Round

Jaswant Khalsa is an American artist based in Las Cruces, NM. Her work has been exhibited in Arizona and New Mexico. Her colorful, stylistic figures convey the grace of everyday moments. Images of joyful women, playful children, exuberant dance, warm embraces, and quiet contemplation celebrate the One Light that shines through all. Works in acrylic ink on paper are available as Giclee art prints.

My work explores the interplay between inner and outer worlds; the seen and the unseen. I delight in the serendipity of watercolor, acrylics, and inks that transform into colorful, dynamic imagery. The creative process is a sacred gateway. Across this threshold flows the grace of everyday moments; joyful women and playful children, lively music and exuberant dance, warm embraces, and quiet contemplation.

Through the magical portal of drawing and painting, the ordinary is illuminated. In visual play, polarities merge; control and surrender, chaos and order. Images emerge as a gift and mystical surprise. The creative process draws aside the illusory veil between the physical and the metaphysical. In each piece, I am inspired by the journey and hope that it may inspire you too.

Joanne Chase-Mattillo was born in the beautiful Midwestern University town of Ann Arbor, Michigan. While the natural surroundings of her childhood were inspiring, the beauty of nature surrounding Los Angeles was the impetus for her entrance into the field of photography. Joanne began vigorously studying photography and other art arenas to hone her skills as a visual artist. In 2000, she graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA). She is now a full-time artist.

In addition to color and black and white film, Joanne shoots digitally and employs the techniques of infrared imaging and enjoys creating 3D anaglyphs to be viewed with red/blue lenses. As an extension of photography, she has branched out to do videos and has a YouTube Channel, THE VIDEO ART OF JOANNE CHASE-MATTILLO. Along with nature, Joanne frequently photographs female and male subjects at themed studio shoots. She often uses the photograph of models combined with images of her nature photography to create unique photo montages.

Joanne has exhibited throughout California, nationally, in Korea, France, England, Switzerland, Scotland, Greece, Spain, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Holland, Taiwan, Brazil, Dubai, and Italy.

As a photographer, I am constantly in search of iconic imagery. The craftsmanship and perfection of classic Hollywood cinema have always been an inspiration and a goal I seek to achieve in my photography. While enjoying the technology of the present and how it has enhanced photography, I am very drawn to recreate photographs that reference the best of the past. It is my intent that the viewer of the images I create will be taken out of the everyday present to a magical place where, at any time, they would dream of going. Whether photographing people or nature, I strive to honor the best and the beauty of all that I have an opportunity to capture with my camera.

Summer days are the dream moments of the year that are looked forward to in dreary seasons. The beach, pool, lakes, and oceans draw all to embrace the sun and beat the heat. When we think of summer, we embrace all that the warmth of the sun brings.

Born in ’52, a graduate degree in Education.Former educator, salesperson, and retail manager.Worked in animal care. Trained as a mosaicist and cold-worked glass artist. As a newly retired person has moved into the colored pencil medium.Painter, collagist, and illustrator; works inspired by modern artists, the impressionist, Dutch, and Italian renaissance artists, and innumerable Instagram artists. Currently living in Manhattan, happily married for three decades.

I have been an artist in one form or another ever since elementary school.

My fascination with the visual world has never abated as I continually find myself forever trying to capture all the aspects of life; the good, the bad, and the ugly in a myriad of artistic mediums; Beginning as a child with charcoal and acrylic paint to pen and ink; Moving in experimenting with torn paper and colored paper then further experimenting with mosaic glass and cold shop/kiln glass. Then I began investigating the worlds of ceramic and clay sculpture and finally, as retirement age approached, the world of color through colored pencils took me in. Seemingly their use was the culmination of all my prior training and critiquing and has developed into a kind of addiction that I hope will never go away.

I make work on-site, in places where community interaction and cooperation happen. This includes community gardens, parks, and residential areas. I create catalogs of onsite collages. Then I spend time in the studio making quilts, textile paintings, and soft sculptures referencing the collages. Then I create interactive works mainly, interactive soft sculpture installations. Viewers create their own landscapes with soft sculptures, arranging their own compositions. The work encourages play, accessibility, and joy, something that I feel the art world could have more of.

My professional experience includes working with multiple GSO entities to design curriculums and teach art. I’ve had fun at the Artist Bloc’s glow party, and volunteering for Darlene McClinton in painting murals in downtown Greensboro. I was a performer in Stacy Kirby’s Bureau of Personal Belonging. I’ve also interned at multiple Gallery spaces in Greensboro. Currently, I am the Art Preparator at Guilford College.

I am a visual artist and creative place maker highly invested in creating community, reimagining places, and making accessible spaces. I connect with the community through observation and interaction. I observe the local landscape creating soft sculptures based on these observations which then become public interactive soft sculpture installations, free-standing soft sculptures, quilts, and mixed media landscapes.

My work makes the general public, artists, and others reconsider how we approach art. We can connect with art directly, without judgment, full of curiosity and play. We can experience joy with gratitude, play with contemplation, and introspection with the everyday. This radical way of experiencing art is a way to make this field sustainable and generous, opening the artist up to strangers, and strangers to the artist.

I am Laura Haley and I have a BA in art from Ouachita Baptist University. While there my focus was painting in oil and acrylic and drawing in charcoal. Since I was little I always painted or drew. I grew up in a small, farming town in Arkansas in which my mother was a musician and she encouraged me to develop my talent.

After college, I was able to put my knowledge of design to use as a photography stylist and then started a wholesale art company. There I designed and manufactured lamps, chandeliers, home décor, and children’s furniture for large customers like Neiman Marcus as well as small businesses all over the country.

After 15 years of manufacturing, I decided it was time to get back to what I love most. Painting on canvas and doing collage. I reside in Dallas, Texas with my husband and three children. I have enjoyed participating in many exhibits and shows mostly in the south. I was featured in Canvas Rebel as a spotlight artist for the month of July 2023. My piece “Red Plate” first place winner in the water media division in April 2023 at the Richardson 57th Regional Art Exhibition.

Bold statements can be made with color and content. An accidental brush stroke is often just as important, if not, more important than the intended one. My work, like most artists, is from the world around me. Color and content that is peaceful and warm. My work consists of watercolor and acrylic, painted, and collage. As I step back and observe each piece from every angle I can perceive, I realize all of it is not messy or disorderly. I suppose I strive for peaceful places that have order. I don’t have one subject that I paint or collage. I feel after I have done say, one landscape or two, it’s time to try something else. My hope is that my art will catch the viewer’s eye immediately and draw them into my world.
