Romantic Sunset

Taskin Butt has been drawing and painting since childhood. She works across various mediums such as oils, acrylic, and mixed media and has worked with pen/ink. Her landscapes are a reflection of her external worldly experiences while her abstract works are a reflection of her inner intuitive experiences. She derives her inspiration to paint from everyday life and the beauty and grace of nature around her. Her emotions and feelings dictate which colors and shapes are brought onto canvas resulting in multi-layered abstract and figurative images. Through her dynamic use of colors, vibrant paintings take life. When she paints, she follows her inner voice, her intuition flows, and playful soulful landscapes merge with multi-meaning abstract. She loves variety and does not follow any specific trend but has created her own distinctive style. As she follows her intuition the paint almost paints itself, and her trust in the painting process creates momentum that sustains the entire painting journey. Her work reflects her free spirit and intuitive and spontaneous vibration. It celebrates her love for nature and at the same time expresses her inner experiences through paintings that evoke a sense of serenity and spirituality, influencing the viewer in a positive and healing way as some themes she expresses include freedom, hope, renewal, and connection. She has been selected to be represented by the Rossocinabro Gallery, Italy, Monat Gallery, Spain and Monteoliveto Gallery, France. She believes learning in art is a limitless journey with never-ending possibilities. She aims to continue to grow in her artistic journey and her ultimate aim is to have her art shared and make someone smile or move emotionally through her work. When Taskin is not painting in her studio, she is meeting other artists and visiting new places. She currently works from her own studio in Nairobi, Kenya.

Growing up in a place like Africa, a land full of color, vast open landscapes, and scenic coastal areas has contributed to my deep passion in art. After graduating, I participated in various United Nations Environmental Art initiatives such as the ‘Art for Environment Project’ showcasing paintings by artists representing environmental themes such as deforestation, water and plant conservation. Some of my artwork is observational and inspired by places, events, and everyday life while others express my inner feelings and emotions. I have received training from an American-based Fine Art Company – Artists Network as well as continuing to learn from her peers and other professional artists. I believe nature has a lot to offer and believe the power of art increases exponentially when we realize the roles we can play to preserve the spaces in nature and memories that sparked our passion. Such experiences as walking along a beach and hearing the crashing waves against the shoreline or the fresh breeze on a peaceful day or even the excitement of seeing a flower blossom are moments that I feel art allows me to express and share with the world. I merge such experiences into my work. I regularly use the palette knife and apply impasto to my work and believe it adds texture and depth. Many of my landscapes and abstracts have hidden and multilayered meanings to them. Many times I have been surprised once the painting takes shape. I have had the pleasure to have my work exhibited locally in my home country and globally.

Rooted

As a professional multi-media Artist, Maya has cherished art as a valuable and empowering tool throughout her journey. As a black woman with a chronic illness, art gradually became a means of forging meaningful connections. Maya’s Art was born from a desire to bring together individuals who are on their own journeys of self-discovery, to bridge gaps, and most importantly, to empower and uplift Women of Color. Maya is humbled to have been recognized as a ‘Changemaker’ by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, honored as a grantee of the Jordan Schnitzer Black Lives Matter Artist Grant, and a VSA Emerging Young Artist with Disabilities Awardee.

Art is not just a creative outlet, but a profound means of communication, self-expression, and activism. My mission is to create art that fosters a transformative space where ALL can envision lives beyond the confines of existing structures, while also creating art that explores the depths of peace. I draw inspiration from human connection, consciousness, and the vast universe, with a style that incorporates elements of Pop Art. Placing us in positions that reveal the inherent beauty and extraordinary power within us all.

Rooting To The Ground

Jun Yan is a fine artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area who draws inspiration from his Buddhist background to create art that goes beyond the surface. His works focus on animals and nature, expressing a pure internal power. Using clay, ceramic, resin, and bronze, he sculpts a diverse range of subjects that embody a philosophy of stillness and connection among all natural forms of life.

As a practicing Buddhist, my background always inspires me to create works that demonstrate a certain spiritual essence beyond appearances. I believe there’s a deeper connection between all life forms in the universe, where they are all equally important. I aim to emphasize nature elements because they showcase a beautiful power that is so pure. Within their life cycles, I find the Buddhist philosophy manifesting.

Clay is my primary medium. It’s flexible and can be transformed into whatever shapes imaginable. Also, I prefer the raw surface it has after firing. I don’t know which part might crack or accidentally break, which could be a nice surprise sometimes even if it has to be fixed. At times I might choose to leave it as an interesting texture. It fits my idea to say that nothing is perfect.

As I admire the dignified postures of natural figures, I like to create the look of power but with a sense of stillness calm, and vulnerability. This is also the quality that I am seeking in myself as my journey involves an ongoing exploration and expression of the natural spirit through my artistic pursuits.

Colored Pencil allows me to move from extreme detail to simple impressions, texture, and vibrant colors and to travel anywhere in between. I would like to call my realistic style a painting.
While I use a variety of materials and processes in each project my methodology is consistent.

Surprising colors in unexpected places open my eyes and mind to new experimentation. Colored pencil creative artwork has a therapeutic side to it. Since I started 7 years ago, my mental state drastically improved by increasing my focus and less anxiety and everything else in my life as well.

White I am creating artwork, I work in the Flow space with more and more frequency, and I could access the flow to put finishing touches on all my artwork. My artwork reveals my fascination with cultural matters, my passion and respect for the beauty of nature, and my appreciation of the basic elements of art and life. My vision, as an artist, is to create out-of-the-box art that tells a story and makes people look at the world in a different way.

Rose Of Sharon

Ann Hulce Nicholson was always able to see the world from an artist’s point of view: the colors, the composition, as well as the beauty in the smallest details that others just passed by. She was born and raised in Michigan, yet she spent her career in New York City. While primarily self-taught, Ann has honed her skills with Denis Ponsot as well as numerous watercolor artists online. Some of these artists are known internationally as preeminent in the field. She learns something new every day and is inspired every day. She now splits her time between studios in Brooklyn, New York, and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Flowers are nature’s expression of beauty and a call from the ether for you to stop and look. Georgia O’Keeffe said, “Nobody sees a flower – really – it is so small – we haven’t time – and to see takes time.” A flower, a garden, can be a single bud in a vase, a pot on a stoop, landscaped in a yard or botanical garden, or a simple wild bloom at the side of the road. You just have to really see and pay attention to the beauty that is all around you.

ULTIMATELY, Whatever my work means to you THAT’S WHAT IT MEANS.

Roses

I was born in the USSR, grew up in Ukraine, lived in Ireland, and now call California my home.

I was painting sets for Shoestring Theater and Arte Flamenco De San Jose, created panels and decorated a Haunted House for the Village School Carnival, and single-handedly painted a Sukkah House for a Sukkot celebration. My paintings were part of the Apple Arts and Crafts Fair, showing at the AZ gallery in Downtown Willow Glen. My artwork was accepted for the SVVA Exhibit at Burlingame Library, the Spotlight Exhibit at CSMA, and the 2025 Salon at the Triton Museum.

My main interest is a fusion of visual art a poetry, but I also devote my time to photography, digital art, and spray painting.

I created a series of graphic poems reflecting my experience with wildfires in California, as well as several collections of visual poetry. In August 2024, I joined the Alameda Artworks artists community, took part in creating a mural at Memory Care Facility under the leadership of Pat Johnson. I keep exploring new ways of creating and looking forward new discoveries.

I was creating art as long as I can remember. When I didn’t have money for proper art supplies, I discovered spray paint and fell in love with it. Spray paint gifted me with the ability to express complicated abstract concepts as well as portray impressions of real objects via bursts of colors and twists of lines.
I am working on the fusion of visual art and poetry. Providing captions for my artworks gives them yet another dimension. I hope my art will provoke a lot of thoughts.

Roses And Cake

In just the last four years, Rich Wagner’s works have been included in more than 50 exhibitions in New York, Maryland, and California. Examples of his work are included in private collections and in the Law Library at Pace University.

The son of artists, Rich’s formal art education includes study at the Art Students League of New York, where he is an elected member, the Royal Academy of Arts, and the V&A Academy in London. His art has been nourished by the study of art history, most recently with the Smithsonian, the Courtauld Institute, the University of Oxford, and the National Gallery of Ireland.

One of the factors influencing my art is the work of past masters. Their work speaks to me emotionally and intellectually. Elements of their style and approach have been incorporated into my style and approach.

The Impressionist masters are one such group. In addition to studying their work, I have studied their lives, which in turn has brought me even closer to them.

I see art as a means of expression. My work often interrogates iconic motifs in exploring their relevance to contemporary reality – a dialogue between the past, present, and future. However, I rebel against categorization. My mark-making transcends the boundaries of traditional modes of art. I celebrate color. However, I also explore the physicality and emotion of the shadows on the world inherent in white and black.

Erin Theroux is a 25-year-old artist from Detroit Michigan. She attended Wayne State University for her Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design, received her Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Eastern Michigan University, and now works at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit

I am an artist and maker. My art is the rawest form of personal expression for me, and my main aim in life is to continue to grow and learn how to use the visual medium to communicate what can’t be said verbally to others. Art is above all else a language for me and through different mediums including digital, linocut lithograph printing, and ink illustration I hope to evoke a conversation with the viewer.
