Kakadu Beckons

Robyn was born in Sydney NSW Australia and now resides on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia. She comes from a long line of painters in her family so it’s in her DNA to be creative. Robyn is a self-taught artist and her love of the arts continues to evolve over the years. She has dabbled in many different art forms and is currently exploring and enjoying the many different facets and techniques of fluid art – a form of contemporary abstract art.

She received an award in the 2011 Art on Loftus exhibition in Sydney Australia and has been a finalist in a number of recent Australian Art Prizes including:

  • Doyle Art Prize (2022 and 2023)
  • Ipswich Art Awards (2023)
  • Nimbin Art Fair (2023)
  • Brisbane Rotary Art Show (2023).

She has recently been a Staff Pick and a Featured Artist on the Bluethumb Australia On Line Gallery (July 2023), a Featured Artist in the July 2023 edition of the Artistcloseup Magazine, and a Finalist in the Grey Cube Gallery online art platform (July 2023).

She has successfully sold works entered into a number of these events, as well as through the Mistletoe Winery Art Gallery in the Hunter Valley NSW and other Australian venues.

Kakadu is in Australia’s Northern Territory and is one of the largest national parks in Australia with enormous biodiversity. “Colours of Kakadu” and “Kakadu Beckons” are my interpretation of the richness and color of a small part of the Kakadu landscape.

I believe we are connected to the earth and this abstract fluid artwork embodies not just beauty but the invisible energy that binds us to the land. To you the viewer this painting could deliver a different kind of energy based on how you interpret it.

In my mind I see this painting as just not art but a journey to self-discovery through the freedom this art form allows. A mosaic palette of rich, earthy, organic, vibrant, and authentic colors has been applied to create depth, textures, form, and movement in the painting to evoke a sense of belonging and connection.

This artwork is unique in all its beauty and can never be replicated.

Kaleidoscope

I was born and raised in NYC but mostly in The Bronx. I attended CCNY where I graduated with a BS in Mathematics and an MA in Mathematics Education. I taught high school mathematics in The Bronx. I have always been interested in the arts and started writing poems and playing guitar at age 19. I studied poetry under Professor Robert O’Clair. I studied guitar at The Guitar Workshop. I studied painting and drawing at SUNY in Purchase. I have had paintings in 8 live group shows at Jones Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri, and in many online shows. I have exhibited continuously at HMVCGalleryNewYork virtually since its inception. A wonderful state-of-the-art gallery with outstanding artists! My poems have been published.in magazines, books, and at HVMOCA. I self-published a children’s book, ”Mr. Fine Goes to the Eye Doctor”. My principal artistic interest has been abstract painting and drawing for the last 10 years, but I have written many poems as well. I live in Putnam County, NY.

My work in fine arts has principally been in 2 classes of abstract paintings: oils and water-based paints. However, I have completed numerous works in drawing. I focus on color, texture, methodology of delivery, and composition. In composition, I am interested in positive space and negative space as well. I believe the painting/drawing is a manifestation of my emotional state of both conscious and unconscious feelings.

Kaleidoscope

Herbert Appelson was born in 1937 in New York City; he studied at Brooklyn College, received his M.F.A. at the University of Wisconsin, and an Ed.D. from Columbia University. Appelson specializes in printmaking and the relief technique. The graphic pieces in the exhibition, which he calls “hand threaded embossments,” are dimensional compositions in form, line, and texture. They are prints that activate the flat surface of paper and possess true sculptural qualities

Appelson’s prints have been Featured in many shows including the A.A.A. and Macy Galleries in New York, the art Alliance and Woodmere Museum in Pennsylvania, and the Trenton State Museum in New Jersey. In addition, his works are represented in a number of public and private collections such as the Noyes Museum, Kansas State, Auburn, Columbia, and Wisconsin Universities.

My present works, which I call “hand-threaded embossments,” are an attempt to combine papers and threads into a creative art medium. I wanted to create prints that activated the flat surface of paper and possessed true sculptural qualities.

Working primarily with geometric designs, the paper was embossed or folded into three-dimensional shapes. The dimensional facets of these shapes were further increased by the use of an overlay of different kinds of threads. This embossment process represented a dual experiment: on the one hand, it expressed the beauty of the matrix; and on the other, created a sculptural composition in form, line, and texture.

Kansas Home Sweet Home

Sherry is from the Midwest and began painting full-time after retiring to Florida.

She currently resides in SW Florida and enjoys painting contemporary abstracts. Being mostly self-taught she passionately paints in a unique way using lots of color and expressive movements! Her Native American ancestry is seen in many of her pieces with heavy texture, colorful paints, sharp lines, and marks which gives her art depth and expression. She paints in abstract form her feelings and experiences about life. She hopes her art encourages others to sense the beauty of life all around.

As an emerging new artist with unusual and unique talent, Sherry’s work is being sold worldwide and admired by peers and art lovers.

I’m a contemporary expressionist artist sharing my emotions and life experiences in abstract form. I use a color palette and lots of movement to express my thoughts and feelings.

Karli’s Big Day Out

Laicee Blackwell, from Evansville Indiana, is a visual artist who creates large-scale sculptural textiles. Using processes of sewing, weaving, screen-printing, embellishment, and mined queer histories, they create what they call “queer maps” which explore their placement within queerness. Laicee’s work has been shown in exhibitions around the country at Kent State University Museum, Kent, OH, Indianapolis Art Center, Indianapolis, IN, The Studio Door, San Diego, CA, Tubac Center of the Arts, Tubac, AZ, River Oaks Square Center Alexandria, LA, Bauhaus Prairie Art Gallery, Newkirk, OK, and Parklane Gallery, Kirkland, WA. They received their B.S. in Studio Art with an emphasis in sculpture from the University of Southern Indiana in 2018. They are currently working on their MFA in Sculpture and Expanded Media at Kent State University. There they hold a position as Instructor of Record for the Intro to Sculptural Practices course.

My artworks are a queer exploration and imagined history of me and for myself, created with hope and desire to commune with others seeking connection. Until my early twenties, I was isolated from, and not allowed to connect with, queer community or history. By utilizing queer visual language as a foundation to construct these pieces, I explore a disjointed placement fueled by a deep desire to belong while always feeling on the fringe of society and queer communities. I draw on queer cultural tropes and historical aesthetic lore interwoven with my personal experiences navigating popularized ideas of what the queer experience is or is expected to be. This practice of making has allowed opportunities for me to heal through the use of humor and the deconstruction of old, closeted woes.

Katharsis

I was born in East Los Angeles but now reside in Whittier, CA. I am a mixed media artist who has constantly been creating work throughout the years, filled with vibrant colors, patterns, objects, people, and more. Through my work, I explore many themes that are inspired by my experiences, culture, and traditions. My artwork is an incredible journey into the unknown, and it is through that exploration that I dive within myself to illustrate stories and memories by bringing them to life through different types of art forms.

About four years ago, the world came to a standstill when covid hit, but as for myself, it actually gave me time to breathe for once. During this time, I truly connected back to myself, the pieces of me I lost through time and also gained back. We are complex beings that are always changing, growing, healing, and learning from ourselves and those around us. This project I am working on is a pastel chalk drawing on sandpaper. The artwork is the first piece of three other works I plan for the near future. As for now, this work represents a part of this cycle we endure in order to heal ourselves.

Keagan

I’m Kento Hladilek. I am originally from Nagoya City, Japan, but when I was 12, I moved to Burbank, CA, to immerse myself in learning English and possibly finding my creative path in Los Angeles.

My artistic roots actually trace back to kindergarten, where I rhythmically sketched a still life of Bongo drums. Back then, the thought of becoming an artist didn’t cross my mind. But life had other plans, and during my community college years, I crossed paths with some art professors who made a living selling their art. That’s when I began pondering, could I follow in their footsteps?

I realized that my diverse interests, from collecting beetles (colors) to exploring astrophysics (space) to rhythms of Jazz music (sound), could all be transformed into art that would connect with people.

Now, I’m looking forward with a clear vision. I want to share my art with a broader audience by curating a solo exhibition, featuring larger-than-life paintings spanning 6 to 8 feet. I represent the new generation of artists, eager to bring my unique blend of influences to the world. Together, we can take my artistic journey to new heights and make a lasting impact on the art scene.

My journey as an artist began with drawing portraits for birthdays, which led me to explore art more deeply through classes at Pasadena City College. Inspired by my professor, Nick Aguayo, a professional painter in Los Angeles, I realized that art could be both a passion and a career. I got into my first group show in October 2021 at my college then in July 2023, I sold my first artwork “Bus Ride” to a reality TV show star at TAG Gallery.

Using vibrant Sharpie colors reminiscent of stained glass, my work captures the feeling of music—particularly the energy and mood of 80s Japanese city pop and jazz. The rhythm and flow of these genres guide my creative process, allowing me to translate sound into abstract compositions that reflect the pulse of urban life.

Chasing light in all its ranges and catching a glimpse of extraordinary moments are the primary inspirations for my lens-based photographic images.

As light shifts are swift and fleeting, camera craft, photographic composition, and depth of field are applied with urgency to create the image as the moment created it.

Photographic images for VIBRAINT VISIONS 2 capture shades of ephemeral light, colours shifting swiftly from unique perspectives and vantage points, bringing to life the essence and energy of movement in the moment.

Photographic works take full form through storytelling, be it factual, imagined, or a shared experience with the viewer.

Kentucky Derby Day

John Goodwin studied graphic design at Louisiana Tech University before specializing in limited edition fine art reproductions at a printing company and becoming a full-time artist himself. His “Fun Art” focuses on culture and musical themes and has been featured in many group exhibitions around Arkansas as well as internationally. John’s Blues-related images can be found on Beale Street, at the Delta Blues and Delta Cultural Center Museums, and also at the King Biscuit Blues Festival, where he was chosen as the official poster artist for three years in a row.

I consider my artwork “Fun Art”, meant to convey a sense of wonder and whimsy, and my influences come mostly from pop culture. I grew up with Marvel comics, Big Daddy Roth, and Peter Max, so my work is very illustrative, and the graphic elements found in those can also be found easily in my paintings as well.

A lot of my art is inspired by music – all kinds of music – and I like to visualize it in bright colors and moving shapes, while also paying due respect to the musicians themselves. I’m partial to the blues and love the deep connection to the soul that music has, so a lot of my work features scenes from the Arkansas/Mississippi delta. I’m also fascinated with cultural symbols of all sorts and am attracted to bright, pure colors, extreme detail, and unconventional but familiar subject matter such as food.

These are the things that interest me, and I try to interpret them all in a colorful graphic fashion that will hopefully make people smile.
