Selva Ozelli is an artist, writer, lawyer, and CPA. She is an award-winning artist whose paintings have been acknowledged in 19 international art contests and exhibited in over 120 art shows by numerous museums, the United Nations, ministries, and NGOs across the world. She is a member of the Climate Heritage Network, Global Resilience Partnership, and an ambassador to Oceanic Global. She is the author of Sustainably Investing in Digital Assets Globally, published by Wiley. Her artwork has been cataloged by the United Nations, the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum, and the Berlin University of Art as part of the project titled Climate Summit Art. Art and Political Event, 1972 – 2022. Her three art shows, Reef Dwellers, Orcas & Reefs, and Healing Waters, are endorsed by UNESCO OCEAN DECADE.

Healing With Earth Sky

Rajul moved to Japan in 2012 after retiring from her first career in healthcare. She trained extensively across Oil, Sumi-E/Nihonga, and Acrylic for 7 years between the Tokyo Campus of Temple’s Tyler School of Art and Professional/Studio workshops. She now lives between the US and Singapore with her family.

Her works have been shown in national and international juried shows, including the Tokyo Tower International Art Fair, the XIII Florence Biennale, the 29th Annual International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA) Exhibition, the ION Orchard Gallery in Singapore, the Ueno No Mori Art Museum (Royal Art Museum) in Japan, the National Art Gallery and the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno.

She has received numerous awards for her work including artistic excellence awards by the Circle Foundation. Her creations have been long- and short-listed on awards with the Visual Artist Association in the UK. Honorary mentions and other finalist awards as part of international juried online shows have also recognized Rajul’s work over the past years.

Spotlight and Studio Visit Magazines have featured Rajul’s work and she has written about the Japanese Are of Kintsugi in online publications for White Enso and the Friends of Museum of Singapore.

She is also the co-founder of Purple Octopus Art, LLC, an art publishing company, and founded “Canvas Connections”, a Women’s Artist Collective in Singapore.

Rajul is an international artist whose work is inspired by the desire to communicate calm and spiritual peace. While the intent of her work draws from a previous career in healthcare, she is inspired by Japanese and Indian philosophy. Rajul believes in connections between emotional and well-being and in the importance of sharing positive energy.

The Japanese Art of Kintsugi inspires the translation of Rajul’s creations to address aspects of the human condition and its ability to recover from illness, injury and/or trauma, including the impact of humans on the environment.

Kintsugi is a physical manifestation of resilience. Its purpose is to “repair”. The practice emphasizes the beauty and utility of breaks and imperfections. A vessel is repaired using tree sap and gold splicing. Traditionally applied to pottery in Japan, Rajul’s works are 2D representations of this concept across the planet, the human body and its spiritual energy centers, known as Chakras.

What needs repair does not need to define us. We can heal, regenerate and evolve into improved versions of ourselves, with renewed strength and purpose. An illness or injury does not make us “ugly” or “weak”. The result of regeneration lends greater beauty to that which is healed.

Rajul’s creations use a variety of media and materials, such as oil, nihonga, acrylic, gold/silver leaf, paper and other textural compounds.

Healthy “Red Meat”

Born in Hungary, in 1941, in the city of Nagyvarad, after the second WW was annexed to Romania.
In 1980 came to the US, through a family reunion. Worked at NASA for 22 years, and retired in 2004.

I am an amateur artist, retired from Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA, since then I participated in and held solo exhibitions in Romania, Hungary California, and Colorado.

Heart

Gabriel holds an MFA from UMass, where she was a University Fellow. She has been featured in ART MARKET MAGAZINE #46, 4/20, and at the Florence Biennale Xll. She has exhibited at the Schneider Museum, Ashland, OR; De Cordova Museum, MA; Oakland Museum, CA; and at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum at Cornell University, NY. A retrospective of her work has been held at the Rogue Gallery in Medford, OR. Gabriel has received numerous awards including First Award “All California Art Exhibition”; Finalist in Artist’s Magazine; and Jurors Choice award, at the “Human Form” exhibit, at Newport Visual Art Center, OR. She was awarded a Southern Oregon Haines Foundation Grant. She is a GOLD LIST AWARD artist for Art Market International Magazine. Gabriel is intrigued by experimental portraiture which explores a unique psychological perspective.

My portraiture reflects on the human condition as I explore the human psyche. In the pastel drawing “Heart,” I portray an up-close view of a woman’s chest. Here the woman’s right hand pulls or cradles her breast while exposing what is beneath the skin – a beating heart. The vulnerability of the subject is palpable. The image is both realistic in detail and yet surreal. The overall recurrent themes in my portraiture offer personal perspectives on womanhood, birth, vulnerability, wariness, sexuality, longing, and connection.

Heart Of An Elder

Katherine Zhou, an Asian American artist born and raised in Texas, has nurtured her love for drawing since childhood, using art as a means of self-expression and exploration. Entirely self-taught, Katherine honed her skills while she was in high school, but recently began to truly embrace her passion with serious intent. Every spare time is dedicated to creating, as she dreams of seeing her work showcased. Her art goes beyond the canvas—it’s a reflection of the complexities of the human condition, infused with emotion, meaning, and a deep desire to connect with others. Katherine’s journey is one of perseverance and purpose, where each piece is a step toward not only mastering her craft but also inspiring others to see the world through a more thoughtful, expressive lens. She believes that art has the power to bridge the intangible and the real, and she is committed to leaving a lasting impact with her art.

This drawing is a reflection of my inner self, where I often feel like an old soul in spirit. The elderly man represents the quiet, nurturing nature that I carry within me—always caring for others, often in simple, unseen ways. Just as the man waters his plants, I pour my energy into helping those around me grow and thrive. In a world that often values speed and ambition, I connect more with the slow, gentle process of nurturing, of giving without expecting. The simplicity of this act reflects how I live, finding meaning not in grand gestures, but in the steady, quiet effort of supporting those I love. This drawing expresses who I am at my core—a person who finds purpose in helping others, much like an old man who, though aged, continues to give life through the care he offers.

Heart Of Red Rose

Born as a fraternal twin in 1983 in Vienna, Austria. Growing up in a large, exposed property surrounded by nature with many pets, therefore very close to nature and animal-loving. Practice figure skating from the age of 5 until high school. Studied nutritional science at the University of Vienna and worked as a quality assurance representative for a Viennese food company until my first maternity leave. During her time as a mother of two children, she became more involved with photography.

I have been photographing nature for about 10 years. Since my husband gave me a DSLR camera 3 years ago, I have enjoyed being outside much more and enjoy using my macro lens. Discovering motifs (which are everywhere!), the silence of nature, and taking photographs are like meditation. I love discovering the beauties in nature and would like to show them in my pictures. Nature offers a great range of colors, shapes, lighting moods, etc.

I love it when the sunlight shines through flowers and leaves, the fascinating light at sunrise and sunset, and the changes in nature over the seasons. Every season offers so many incredible motifs, and with my macro lens, I see things that you wouldn’t or couldn’t see otherwise.

My heart soars when I’m out in nature with my camera. I love working with my pictures by making different collages and even calendars.

Heart To Heart Hamsa

Sylvia Bandyke, Royal Oak, MI, USA, is largely a self-taught photographer, having taken studio and art history classes in college. She began her art career by displaying photo collages in ArtPrize, an independent international art competition in Grand Rapids, MI, from 2014 to 2018. Subsequently, she has been juried into more than 100 group exhibitions in 24 states and accepted into numerous online international exhibitions. An awarded artist, she keeps an eye open for interesting views of a subject while looking for hidden beauty every day. Most recently, she was a caregiver to her elderly mother and was able to create some memorable, unique art as a result of this experience.

I prefer using the collage format to integrate associated images into a cohesive unit that is even more compelling because of the embedded story. Having been a playwright and technical writer, I am accustomed to delivering content with a message. So now, as a visual communicator, I continue to provide meaning via the structure of the collage format, wherein the four photos confirm, augment, or even contradict each other if warranted. I enjoy offering the richness that the multiplicity of images provides, along with the impact gained through thoughtful positioning of them. Ultimately, I intend to have my work act as a doorway to the viewer’s own mental and emotional framework regarding the collection of images, perhaps finding their own very personal meaning in them.

Heartbeat 2023

Nishida Tadashi is a contemporary artist hailing from the picturesque city of Iga, Mie Prefecture, Japan. Born in 1962, his artistic journey has taken him on a remarkable odyssey, one that has been marked by an unwavering dedication to his craft. In 1988, Nishida Tadashi graduated from Tokyo Zokei University, where he majored in Painting within the Department of Art. Following his formal education, he embarked on a career that saw him harness his creative talents in the realms of TV art and stage art, illuminating screens and stages with his unique artistic vision. While his career in television and stage art thrived, Nishida Tadashi’s passion for fine art never waned. His creative prowess found a new canvas through which to express itself, leading to his participation in a series of group exhibitions that have earned him acclaim both in his native Japan and on the international stage. In 2022, Nishida Tadashi’s work took center stage at the “M.A.D.S. ART GALLERY” in Milan, Italy, as well as in the enchanting landscapes of Fuerteventura, Spain. Walking continuously under the sun, one can see various natural phenomena.

Things weathered by the passage of time, stains, scratches, and dirt that have been randomly placed on the surface. The process of photographing and retouching them is very interesting. Coming into contact with images that undergo various changes in the process of retouching evokes deep memories. In other words, as an observer, it is a pleasure to interact with the world created by the subconscious through the manifest consciousness. And the world of the subconscious mind as embodied is one of the important themes of my work.

Heavy Weather

Herbert Appelson was born in 1937 in New York City; studied at Brooklyn College, received his M.F.A. at the University of Wisconsin, and an Ed.D. from Columbia University. Appelson specializes in printmaking and the relief technique. The graphic pieces in the exhibition, which he calls “hand threaded embossments,” are dimensional compositions in form, line, and texture. They are prints that activate the flat surface of paper and possess true sculptural qualities

Appelson’s prints have been Featured in many shows including the A.A.A. and Macy Galleries in New York, the Art Alliance and Woodmere Museum in Pennsylvania, and the Trenton State Museum in New Jersey. In addition, his works are represented in a number of public and private collections such as the Noyes Museum, Kansas State, Auburn, Columbia, and Wisconsin Universities.

My present works, which I call “hand-threaded embossments,” are an attempt to combine papers and threads into a creative art medium. I wanted to create prints that activated the flat surface of paper and possessed true sculptural qualities.

Working primarily with geometric designs, the paper was embossed or folded into three-dimensional shapes. The dimensional facets of these shapes were further increased by the use of an overlay of different kinds of threads. This embossment process represented a dual experiment: on the one hand, it expressed the beauty of the matrix; and on the other, created a sculptural composition in form, line, and texture.
