Girasol De Verano
The daughter of parents from Madrid and the third of six siblings, from a very young age she learned to negotiate and set limits. Skills helped her in her professional adult life to make a career in the business world. After a long career in the communication sector, she decides to return to her creative roots and resume painting as a means of expression, which later leads her to the need to write, plots that she develops from a point in the south. from Spain. Currently, she is completely dedicated to giving free rein to her imagination through painting. She transmits in each painting of her her emotions and her state of mind trying to give a little color and joy to the world around her.
Through the canvases I manage to express my deepest thoughts and emotions, trying to capture everything that would be impossible to express with a few words. That is why cubism, as I like to call the style of my creations, is a freestyle with a wild and indomitable soul, but at the same time a healer where the greatest reward is being able to reach my audience and transmit the accumulation of sensations so special that it contains each frame.

Printmaking BFA/ minor in painting/ SUNY Potsdam, NY. Artwork accepted into the Adirondack Artist Guild Juried Show, Spring 2022. The juried Solo show is slated for Ogdensburg International Airport, and installation is scheduled for September/October of 2023.
My current work connects relationships regarding the expression of color, through the artist. The natural world, our living environment, inspires this work. The direct touch of a brush, against a surface, is the enticement that leads to the exploration of ideas.
Girl At The Wall
Jana Zimmer has been a printmaker and mixed-media artist since 1995. International exhibits include the 34th International Miniprint in Cadaques, Spain, a three-woman exhibit, with a Czech and a German artist, in Freiberg, Germany, in 2015 entitled “We Are Still Here”, and exhibits in Prague and at the Terezin Ghetto Museum, in 2007. Two of her assemblage pieces, “For Ritta”, and “Balkan Ghosts” have traveled the world as part of the Women Beyond Borders international feminist exhibit (www.womenbeyondborders.org), and will be housed permanently at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
In September 2015 and October 2019, her work was included in the Jerusalem International Biennale. She was a presenter in March of 2015 at the Conney Conference at the University of Southern California and is also an author of an art book, with fiber artist Sharon Marcus, entitled “Collaboration”.
Her new memoir, “Chocolates From Tangier” was released by Doppelhouse Press in January 2023. This work traces her journey of Return, through her art, as the only child of two Holocaust survivors.
She has also been a practicing lawyer for 40 years and has authored the first ‘coffee table law book’, “Navigating the California Coastal Act” (Solano Press, 2018), which contains ten of her digital collages.
Jana’s work includes monotype, collage, assemblage, and mixed media on the themes of historical and political responsibility and memory.
As a lifelong (3/4 century, and counting) feminist I am enraged, frightened, and appalled at the backward slide in respect for women’s rights in this country and abroad. The work submitted for this exhibit expresses these concerns.
Girl at the Wall – my fear for the next generation, in this case, my secular, Jewish, LGBT granddaughter, just trying to figure out where she fits and how she may live in freedom.

I was born and raised in NYC but mostly in The Bronx. I attended CCNY where I graduated with a BS in Mathematics and an MA in Mathematics Education. I taught high school mathematics in The Bronx. I have always been interested in the arts and started writing poems and playing guitar at age 19. I studied poetry under Professor Robert O’Clair. I studied guitar at The Guitar Workshop. I studied painting and drawing at SUNY in Purchase. I have had paintings in 8 live group shows at Jones Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri, and in many online shows. I have exhibited continuously at HMVCGalleryNewYork virtually since its inception. A wonderful state-of-the-art gallery with outstanding artists! My poems have been published.in magazines, books, and at HVMOCA. I self-published a children’s book, ”Mr. Fine Goes to the Eye Doctor”. My principal artistic interest has been abstract painting and drawing for the last 10 years, but I have written many poems as well. I live in Putnam County, NY.
This drawing is based on a photo taken at a gallery where I have 2 paintings in a live group show; both are in the drawing. However, my drawing is different from the photo in that I have added a central work: the symbol of women with ‘sun rays’ emanating from it. Voila! “Girl Power 1.0”.
Girl Under The Rainbow
Sylvia Bandyke, Royal Oak, MI, USA, is largely a self-taught photographer, having taken studio and art history classes in college. She began her art career by displaying photo collages in ArtPrize, an independent international art competition in Grand Rapids, MI, from 2014 to 2018. Subsequently, she has been juried into more than 100 group exhibitions in 24 states and accepted into numerous online international exhibitions. An awarded artist, she keeps an eye open for interesting views of a subject while looking for hidden beauty every day. Most recently, she was a caregiver to her elderly mother and was able to create some memorable, unique art as a result of this experience.
I prefer using the collage format to integrate associated images into a cohesive unit that is even more compelling because of the embedded story. Having been a playwright and technical writer, I am accustomed to delivering content with a message. So now, as a visual communicator, I continue to provide meaning via the structure of the collage format, wherein the four photos confirm, augment, or even contradict each other if warranted. I enjoy offering the richness that the multiplicity of images provides, along with the impact gained through thoughtful positioning of them. Ultimately, I intend to have my work act as a doorway to the viewer’s own mental and emotional framework regarding the collection of images, perhaps finding their own very personal meaning in them.
Girls On The Beach
During my professional life of 40 years as an accountant, I struggled to live my life as an artist, to find the time to actually paint. My work as an artist has taken me in several different directions. I painted portraits of my family, friends, and acquaintances, attempting always to garner an essential element of their spirit.
A number of my paintings depict the conflict between the world as the accountant, the poet, and the artist. More recently, my paintings have a free form best described as ‘portraits from my mind’, using a very different technique. I refer to this technique as “first thought best thought”, resulting in a totally different style.
I have been painting since 1979.
As an artist I am compelled by images of people… their face, their context, their vibration, and anything else that alerts my senses to the point of wanting to paint them.

Heini Mika is a Finnish artist who works and resides in New York City. Heini has a BA degree in Fine Arts from the University of Worcester (UK) and a Fine Art and Visual Communications degree from the Pekka Halonen Academy of Art (Finland). She has exhibited her paintings worldwide, most notably in The United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and New York. Her paintings have been published in a variety of magazines including the British Vogue and some of her artworks are held by private collectors.
Heini’s contemporary paintings serve the viewer with a palette of vibrant colors and dynamic shapes while she gives you her unique perspective on women, fairytales, and history. They have been an essential source of inspiration for Heini throughout her career as an artist and this can be observed in her rich and intriguing original artworks. Heini Mika is also the co-founder and chief curator at her own online art gallery the HMVC Gallery New York.
For the longest time, women have always been the subject of great art, but rarely were we allowed to create great art. Being a female artist in the 21st Century, I look to my female heroes for guidance and inspiration. From Marie Antoinette to Miley Cyrus I paint my subjects the way I see them, inspiring, beautiful, and most importantly, complex. There is so much more to these women than meets the eye, yet all of them were or are dismissed at face value.
In my acrylic paintings I explore the dichotomy between my female subjects and their stories. While my almost cartoonish art style may play into the notion that these women are ditzy and childish, my intention is to tell their true stories.
These women have inspired me, and while I wish to emulate the image pop culture has given them, I am aware of the darkness that lurks behind the fun. To convey this darkness I like to paint moments from their lives that don’t play into the notion of fun and positivity. My signature style of kaleidoscopic colors and white outlines may seem like they do not go well with my dark sense of humour, however with this combination I am able to create eye-catching artworks that cannot be mistaken for anyone else’s.
Give ‘Em The Old Razzle-Dazzle
Before art became his passion, much of Rich Sheaffer’s prior career in engineering and management was rather mundane. The exceptions were when he did not follow conventional wisdom and explored on his own without necessarily doing things the accepted, “correct” way. That is when breakthroughs occur, discoveries are made, and quantum improvements can be initiated. It is with that spirit that Rich creates art by inspiration and imagination rather than more conventional rules of how art should be created. Rich’s works reflect the angst of a common man regarding events occurring in society, and some of his works have also predicted future events. When events are so outrageous that he is left with a loss for words, he paints. Rich is active with the Artists Guild of the San Diego Museum of Art, the Artist Alliance of the Oceanside Museum of Art, and others.
Since the events of 2016, Rich Sheaffer has been developing a genre of art he calls Socio-Political Abstractionism. While political art is common, it has generally taken the form of such things as cartoons and caricatures. Socio-Political Abstractionism, in contrast, is an art form in which hot-button social topics being divisively debated in the political milieu are “abstractionized” and expressed via painting in abstract form, to inspire thought and discussion. Such works are primitive expressions of dreams or visions that express the events and angst of our time in history. His works are experimental and inspired by current events; he never knows from the outset how the final work will appear. Topics covered by Rich have included societal fear and anger, climate change, human rights, assaults against diversity, truth versus “alternative facts”, degradation of kindness and compassion, migration issues, attacks against democracy, risks of conflict and war, self-created chaos, and so on.

My poem “Friends” was published recently(2022) at HVMOCA in written form and in audio in the “Writing Off the Walls” project. My principal artistic interest has been abstract painting and drawing for the last 9 years, but I have written many poems as well. I live in Putnam County, NY.
My work in fine arts has principally been in 2 classes of abstract paintings: oils and water-based paints. However, I have completed numerous works in the drawing. I focus on color, texture, methodology of delivery, and composition. In composition, I am interested in positive space and negative space as well. I believe the painting is a manifestation of my emotional state of both conscious and unconscious feelings.
The works I have entered for this show center on the theme “Pink.” Pink is one of the predominant colors explored.
