In my art, I love to capture moments through photography. I find inspiration in Nature. I use myself as my subject to capture and express different ideas. I use various mediums like photography and digital editing to bring my ideas to life.

I prefer using the collage format to integrate associated images into a cohesive unit that is even more compelling because of the embedded story. Having been a playwright and technical writer, I am accustomed to delivering content with a message. So now, as a visual communicator, I continue to provide meaning via the structure of the collage format, wherein the four photos confirm, augment, or even contradict each other if warranted. I enjoy offering the richness that the multiplicity of images provides, along with the impact gained through thoughtful positioning of them. Ultimately, I intend to have my work act as a doorway to the viewer’s own mental and emotional framework regarding the collection of images, perhaps finding their own very personal meaning in them.

I start painting without any outside trigger of inspiration. The painting process itself is of the utmost importance in my daily life. Painting is comparable to breathing for me. I like to plunge into my painting process as others plunge into a pool. Creating a new painting is an effort to balance between visualizing and reflecting on my surroundings and emotions. The subjects of my work reflect a myriad of daily impressions from traveling and being in motion. While painting, I get an extraordinary sense of personal and creative freedom.

I compose bright, surprising settings like a luxury jewel box and assimilate my interiors into unknown sanctuaries with high vibes by metabolizing my experiences, observations, and impressions into interior pictures. I compose collage elements, sea creatures, plants, and images from art history into new spatial structures and give rebirth to the classical interior. In my highly detailed paintings, with their tapestry-like designs, you will find interiors with fish, leopards, Chinese porcelain, ceramics, baroque furniture, and retro-style influences. Everything in my paintings is playful, ambiguous, and multi-layered. I love variations within a theme and image quotations. My artwork is much more than an assemblage of colors and patterns to please the eye. I build new environments that relate to nothing seen before. I want my pure aesthetic energy to flow out of my artwork and brighten the viewer’s mind with pure buzz and pleasant excitement. I love to break the traditional methods of spatial visualization and the three-dimensional physical illusions of a room to make the viewer’s perception of reality absurd. I want to allow my audience to look behind the bare, well-known pictorial sphere by leaving behind the classically taught composition and inventing more layers within the two-dimensional canvas. By breaking the classical view, I can generate a new experience for my audience, pointing them to emotional reality. I turn my motives into bright, cheering works of art, like an explosion of colors and organic shapes. Everybody is welcome to participate.

Painting is surviving. The painting process itself is of the utmost importance in my daily life. The subjects of my work reflect a myriad of daily impressions from traveling and being in motion. While painting, I get an extraordinary sense of personal and creative freedom. From the basic idea of perspective, I developed the layout of the constructed space, which I am wallpapering. I overpaint my interior compositions with an old master glaze technique and a structure of shadows and complementary colors to increase the luminosity of my work. I capture detailed and precise moments that bring a fresh and intriguing perspective to the world’s reality. As the viewer sees now existing in a different light, context, or resolution, familiar objects appear as something new.

I am in my element when I have paper and pencil, and can doodle simple shapes to create a larger design. I enjoy seeing how small changes in lines, shapes, and color can alter the evolution of a design, taking a “doodle” and turning it into a geometric pattern. Recently I have expanded into collage work, by cutting up prints of my designs to create a whole new piece of art.

As a photographer, I must be captivated by the beauty and the feelings that stand before me to determine whether the image will be captured and shared with the world.” I as a photographer am essentially capturing images and my feelings that resonate in that particular moment in time from the image and am essentially encapsulating them in my Photographs where time is of no existence, Allowing for the viewers’ minds to run free within the images and the scenery that was before me allowing them to remain and run free within the viewers’ minds and the emotions that resonate from the particular scenery for as long as they wish! During the storms, we are presented with throughout our busy lives In our ever-changing world one thing that simply never changes is the solitude, beauty, and comfort that nature provides us all. There is always a stream to catch your tears and a sunset to brighten your life.

Every day moments really capture my attention. Ones that trigger memories or evoke a strong emotional reaction on my part quickly become my next obsession. By observing these often-fleeting moments, I notice that my views on life, especially in terms of time and how little of it we as individuals each have, and how one’s own perspective overall can be narrow, thus I use them to spur growth in myself with a desire to enhance the human experience.

I truly feel that my artworks are the most rewarding and fulfilling way for me to communicate my inner thoughts and feelings with those around me.

Every day, we are confronted with the fragmentation of our non-linear lives, trying as in a puzzle to make the pieces fit together and make sense of it all. In a world that can feel full of complexity and chaos, I am passionate about creating art that communicates a sense of harmony, balance, order, and spirituality.

My paintings works on paper, and sculptures depict imagery of personal and global events and psychological issues. They are a reflection of the world we live in, expressed through geometric shapes, color, light, space, texture, edges, and movement, each interplaying with one another and engaging the viewer to participate. The love I have for my family, gardens, ballet, theatre, and music have also always found their way into my work.

Every painting begins with a conceptual vision and ultimately seeks to convey a narrative. The multi-dimensionality and layered nature of my work aims to penetrate the illusions of reality, reaching the mystery and essence of the soul.

As one writer has observed, we live on a tilt-a-whirl in the middle of a carnival–stuck to a rotating watery ball, revolving around a gigantic star, spinning through a galaxy, whirling through the universe. How are we not dizzy all the time? Inspiration comes in myriad forms from these involuntary, yet glorious treks around the sun.

My work is unified by the non-traditional use of paper. I strive to create the effect of painting using only the colors and textures already present in handmade papers. I apply the paper to the canvas with an acrylic medium. Every work is an experiment, as each color or layered combination changes as it dries.

Like most artists, I choose subjects that are meaningful to me or impress me with their intensity and depth of color, or that communicate simple truth, goodness, and beauty. My work is successful when it touches more than the viewer’s eye and draws them into a shared moment, memory, or emotion beyond the limited expression of the subject.
