Artist Bio
J. Vadala is an abstract artist working in acrylic and mixed media. A self-taught artist, she discovered painting during a challenging period in her life and found it to be more than a creative outlet; it became a path toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.
Her work is driven by emotion, intuition, and movement. Through layers of paint, texture, and expressive mark-making, she creates pieces that explore resilience, transformation, vulnerability, and renewal. Rather than telling a specific story, her paintings invite viewers to find their own meaning and connection within the work.
A fatal accident in 2017 became a turning point in Vadala’s journey and continues to influence her artistic voice. While rooted in personal experience, her work focuses on the universal emotions that connect us all.
Music plays a central role in her creative process. The rhythm, energy, and emotion of a song often guide her movements, helping shape the atmosphere and direction of each piece. For Vadala, art and music work together to express what words often cannot.
Through J. Vadala Unrefined, she shares original artwork and select reproductions while encouraging authenticity, resilience, and personal growth. Her goal is to create opportunities for others to experience the freedom she found through art, whether supporting those living with PTSD, veterans, first responders, or anyone who simply wants to turn up the music, throw some paint on a canvas, and let go for a while.
Though her path to becoming an artist was unconventional, Vadala’s work reflects a life shaped by perseverance and transformation. Her mission is simple: to create honestly, live authentically, and inspire others to do the same.
