Ellie Garvey
Artist Bio
Ellie Garvey is an Indianapolis-based jewelry designer and children’s book writer/illustrator. She was a 2022-2024 Creative Renewal Arts Fellow (Indy Arts Council/Lilly Endowment Foundation) and an Indiana University, Bloomington, graduate (2006). Ellie worked in fashion jewelry design in San Francisco, CA, designing collections for corporate markets such as Nordstrom and Macy’s (2006-2008). Since settling in Indianapolis in 2010, Ellie has been designing and fabricating her own jewelry collections for online marketplaces, group exhibitions, art fairs/festivals, and private commissions. In 2016, the first of Ellie’s three daughters was born, which began her fascination with the themes of childhood. She began to write and illustrate content for children’s literature to align her creative endeavors with the developmental stages of her children. The artwork from Ellie’s first book project, Alone Together, was selected for 4 publications and 12 international juried exhibitions in 2022/2023. Ellie is a member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths, the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators, and the National Collage Society. Her 2022 exhibitions include “Food for Thought” (Los Angeles, CA), “Flowers 4 Peace and Prosperity” (Red Bluff, CA), “Women in Art” (Laguna Beach, CA), “Kingdom Animalia” (Biafarin Platform), “Art in the Time of Corona (Vol. 3)” (Dab Art Co. Online Galleries), “We are SNAG: Anthology 2022” (SNAG virtual catalog), “Nocturnal” (Lyons, CO), and “Rebel Rebel” (HMVC Gallery New York). Ellie’s 2023/2024 exhibits include “Merged” (Norfolk, VA), “Furry Friends” (Red Bluff, CA), “The Highs of Life” (Poughkeepsie, NY), “Abrazo” (Portland, OR), “National Collage Society 39th Annual Juried Exhibit” (Union, NJ), “Celebration” (Long Island, NY), and “Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship Exhibition” (Indianapolis, IN).
